Absolutely exceptional! We celebrated a special occasion for Sunday lunch, everything was perfect. Cannot wait to go back. Highly recommend the The Gates Restaurant. Beautiful food, incredible wine, attentive and knowledgable staff. Immaculate facility. We finished off with wine tasting which was so pleasant. Thank you to the Leogate team for an unforgettable experience.

I can’t understand how this restaurant has had reviews lower than 4 stars. Must be personality clashes or something.For me this restaurant delivered a true 5/5 for the quality of their food.The pork belly starter was phenomenal.The chateaubriand and eye fillet they served up were absolutely delicious.The desserts were insane, in a very good way.The side dish, hardly ever mentioned in reviews, completely astonishing. Pumpkin covered in chilli and feta and I think some glaze perhaps? Not sure, but it was the best side dish I’ve ever had.(I’ve been to restaurants in over 40 countries so this is saying a lot)The service was pretty friendly. They went out of their way to explain the menu and different options for us.The grounds look really nice but where we sat in the restaurant was a let down on the whole experience, hence the lost star. Pretty bland and boring, had us wishing we were sitting elsewhere.Had to pay $150 to book a table beforehand (correct me if I’m wrong as can’t remember the total). I think this is a bit of a stretch and sets expectations a bit high considering what we got as a table.All in all, for my experience, I’d rate this restaurant a 4.2/5.

If I could give it more stars I would. These restaurant had the best food i have ever had the pleasure of eating. The pumkin side was an amazing combination of flavours and the price point was great for the quality of food.Would come back to Hunter Valley just to eat here again

I was taken here by my partner for a birthday dinner and cannot fault anything. The service from the minute we walked up to the restaurant was impeccable. The waitstaff were excellent and not to mention the food. It was the best meal i've ever had. We had the 5 course degustation and were not disappointed! Would highly recommend 10/10.

Was a really great experience to dine here. Had really high expectations with the food considering it recently won awards, and to be honest it was almost there. Would recommend for a pleasant lunch. The cocktails were on point to perfection though. The duck was cooked to perfection.

The service was excellent and food was divine. They provided a complimentary amuse bouche and pre dessert which was a nice touch as well as being delicious. My toothfish was melt in the mouth and my son devoured his quail entree and duck main.

One word to simply describe our experience here: Amazing! The food and the service were faultless. Generous portions, highest quality produce and knowledgeable waitresses. An absolute must to do if you are visiting the Hunter. We also stayed at the Leogate Estate Accommodation and it was wonderful. I will review that separately.

Great dining experience at The Gates restaurant. We had the 2 courses set menu, in addition, we were served amuse bouche and pre-dessert which were a nice touch. Service was attentive and friendly.Can't ask for more and would recommend to anyone anytime.

What a delight, we have been to The Gates many times over the years. This was by far the best meal there yet. We had a glorious long lunch with friends who have yet to enjoy the pleasures of the Hunter Valley, so we took them to our favourite places. We were served by Andrea who was wonderful and attentive, the food was excellent and of exception standard of preparation and presentation. I would have no hesitation to recommend this restaurant to visitors to the Hunter.

Wonderful dinner venue for a special night out. Attended dinner for two, À la carte. Service was excellent, right balance of friendly and professional, and the atmosphere was wonderful, nice seat right infront of the fireplace. Meals were on the smaller side, and could have been a little more elevated, but no real complaints and we felt satisfied by the end of the evening. Treated ourselves to some dessert. The Caramel Bombe is fantastic.
