My personal experience of working at Sandhill was .... I enjoyed it very much and I was told by my supervisor I was a good worker with initiative and how I was good at getting the job done. I also told my supervisor I enjoyed working with her and she was a good manager.Unfortunately, after a relatively short time I had to go to hospital to have a hysterectomy and before the operation, I took time off because I was intermittently feeling very unwell, I was told I should resign, I was stood over and bullied into resigning without being notified of any of my rights andI was accused of taking lots of time off, even before I took any time off, by a horrible woman in management from the mainland office, she was an ogre and an outright bully, she didn't even apologise when she mixed me up with someone else who was taking lots of time off, when she finally realised she was mistaken. There were other management who were also very unprofessional and outright bullies. Unfortunately, these people were females, who sometines seem to have problems with other females, in the aged care sector, for no real reason than they can get away with it.It's no wonder they can't get enough good staff to work or stay in some of these placesMy experience, both professionally and personally of JAPARA at that time was, they were lacking in both care towards some of their staff and some of their residents. The residents were left to just sit for hours in the day. As a personal and group trainer, I wanted to develop an exercise program for the residents, something they could have fun with, that could really help them, but it just fell on deaf ears. This treatment has left me very sceptical of aged care homes, which is very unfortunate because I was good at my job and I enjoyed it very much, because I care about people and what's important to them.I only hope they have had an overhaul of their Management by now, because it was long overdue and desperately needed.

My Mum lives here, the staff here are doing it tough what with lack of personal to do their assignments and my 99 year old Mum, accepts this but improvement are essential to make her comfortable. We celebrated her 95th and September 24th 2022 will be her 100th birthday, which a party is being held in the common room
