Great place. Worth the 45kms in on dirt road and 45mins walk in.would be better with more seats along the way and at light house. Also disappointed there was no asscess to lighthouse.and should of had kms on west beach sigh so you know how far.

The way to the lighthouse is very rough. You should definitly use an SUV to drive down there. It's worth it and especially for kids the way to the lighthouse is a little adventure.

Worth the walk, disappointed your not allowed to see the lighthouse up close. I'm guessing there is a tour? But otherwise it's marked private and no entry to get even close.

On 20 April 1770 Lieutenant Hicks sighted this Point from the Endeavour after circumnavigating and charting New Zealand and claiming it from the Dutch. This place marks the First location seen by British Explorers using maps from Abel Tasman from 1642-44 who came to this great southern land more than 100 years earlier.

One word: Amazing. It's worth the trip and more worth it if you camp out for a few days to thoroughly enjoy it especially with secluded beaches and all. It is a rough road to get to from Cann River (approx. 1 hour one way).

Parks Victoria just recently took over the lighthouse - they’re renovating the cabins and should be up for booking spring/summer 2018. Book online through them.Regardless have to go to the lighthouse Susan who lives on site is such a character, so knowledgeable and overall such a lovely woman! The lighthouse is so cool and beautiful views around! Tours are at 1pm as on park vic site online. Can make drive in 2wd but call parks vic ahead as thurra river campground can flood and need to go through that to lighthouse.

The view from the lighhouse is breathtakingly beautiful and worth a visit. It is one of those views in life everyone should see at least once. It is truly humbling to stand and look out across the ocean, feel the cool breeze against your face and the salt spray on your tongue.the signage however is a let down and does not give enough information about the area or what there is to see. It would be good if it also included some information about the inhabitants of the area and the species of animal that can be found there. It would also be good it if was moved closer the the end of the driveway so if could be more readily viewed. The walking tracks are a little overgrown . While we were there, we saw a huge Samba deer dash further into the scrub, rabbits nibbling grass, and a hawk flew over our heads. There were wrens flittering about in the meadow nearby. We saw deer, dingo, kangaroo and wallaby tracks along the walk which was exciting.

Beautiful place to visit if you are up for a walk (the lighthouse is approx 2km from the carpark and 4km from Thurra River Campground). There are free guided tours at 1pm Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday with a max of 12 people per tour (no bookings required). There is plenty of birdlife and wildlife along the track, we saw whales, seals, dolphins and a wallaby. There are toilets at Thurra River Campground and a few benches along the track.

Some of the most pristine and remote coastline in Australia. Gorgeous. The lighthouse and the keepers cottages, reflect a unique long gone part of white history.
