Brilliant club.

The CBL is a terrible league. Completely under resourced. Not expecting high quality officiating of games at junior levels, but the refs don't even uphold a basic duty of care for the kids they're responsible for. Trinity and Whitehorse Primary venues in particular are staffed by completely underskilled, uninterested, unengaged, and on many occasions blatantly negligent refs. On more occasions than can be detailed here, parents from both teams have been united in disgust at the level of officiating. Quite seriously, some refs have been on their phones messaging while the game is in progress.At an admin level, we had an entire team of kids walk away from basketball after a season, when following 5 weaks of grading that included a variety of wins and losses, the league placed the team in a grade where the average score week to week was in the vicinity of 50-0 (losses). We requested a review repeatedly, but the league did absolutely nothing.From a customer point of view, having had 3 kids play in the CBL following the distastefully handled mutany from Hawthorn Basketball, the league is nothing short of a shambles across all levels. The problems appear deep and systemic. We're transitioning elsewhere and I can recommend the EDJBA and MEBA as high quality alternatives.

My son has been a referee at the club for over a year. He started as a trainee and move his way up to Grade B. The club has been very supportive in providing ongoing support and training to my son. He has tried a number of venue and there will always be at least one supervisor on site in case situations happen.
