A rip in the display box not shown in photo or divulged. Reduced the value of item by 50%. Next time I Went in to view items. Guys at back were super helpful. I was in show room looking at upcoming items I was bidding on. Told by girl at reception desk, I wasn’t allowed to look at those as they belonged to people. And weren’t for sale. She was quite rude and didn’t want to hear that they were from upcoming auction. Needless to say didn’t up my bids or watch the Auction.

Purchased many times from Abbeys and all experiences have been really good. Postage quotes are reasonable and items are packaged up really well. Buyers premium is 24% but given what they have it is quite reasonable.

We have bought a few items now from several different auctions and all the lots have been excellent quality and exactly as described.The customer service has been fantastic. We have dealt with them via email, telephone and in person during pick up of items.Such a great company to deal with.

We are very impressed with the standard and assistant we have experienced using Abbey's to move us to our new residence. Thanks to the huge job their staff did for us and including the days prior to the move. We will recommend Abbey's to anyone with out a doubt. Marian and Michael.

Abbey's weekly auction continues to be the highlight of my week. Their range of interesting, quality pieces is second to none and their customer service, particularly the helpful team out the back, is outstanding.

This review is a warning to potential sellers considering using Abbeys. Before you decide to sell anything of significant potential value with this do some basic research re the item value for yourself.Just today a lot of mixed watches went through the auction and sold for less than $200.00. In this lot amongst many cheap watches with little value were 2 watches of significant value, 1 being a vintage Omega Constellation from the 1950's valued at around $2,000 potentially more depending on mechanical condition.The person who consigned this watch or lot of watches has been let down badly and received a fraction of the actual assets value. One of the directors was made aware of this by phone as a courtesy. He was very dismissive, defensive firstly playing down the value of the watch (showing a lack of knowledge) then saying, we just sell what people give us".Anyone with even a basic knowledge about watches (as would be expected from an auction house) would know that any Omega watch has significant value

Purchased an expensive painting with certificate of authenticity at auction. Collected it and was told the wrong certificate was provided by the vendor and I’d have the correct certificate sent to me with tracking. 3 weeks later I have still not received the certificate and Abbeys Auctions is not responding to any of my emails. I am now demanding a full refund of the painting without the certificate being provided. The only way I feel this will be resolved is to go to their premises in person. Incredibly disappointing and surely a breach of consumer law.

Used Abbeys house clearance service with an overwhelming amount of household items to dispose of when downsizing, they packed it all up and took everything away. It took a bit of time, but after the sale of my goods was completed I received a detailed inventory with enough reimbursement to cover the costs of moving. Happy to recommend.

Abbeys is pretty good. Their platform feels suspicious but it works and I haven’t had too many problems with it. The items are legitimate, they are fair with their descriptions, and you can get a great deal.The team are friendly too. However, it’s not perfect. And they should be given autonomy to help customers.I have purchased from abbeys 3 times now, at different auctions. Each time I have an issue of some sort that needs to be worked out. I think maybe they are just busy, and a little disorganised, not at all dodgy or underhanded.The items are great, packaged well, and shipping is very reasonably priced.But as others have said, if you want things done within a reasonable time period (weeks) - you need to follow them up, and more than once.They have forgotten to send invoices, missed items on invoices, had to be reminded to add postage, and then they missed paying their own Australian post bill for 3 weeks so my item sat in storage with no one realising until I called over a period of a few days to work out what was happening.My worry is, if I hadn’t had done the admin, and managed this with more effort than one should have to, would the situation have resolved itself?Finally, and I hate to leave anything but 5 star reviews, but when something didn’t get sent out after that long, and you didn’t know until the customer points it out, it may be a good idea to make a little pomp and circumstance about the issue, rather than leaving the impression this happens so often you don’t even raise an eyebrow anymore. In fact, maybe put the items you were meant to ship weeks earlier onto air freight, to show you do actually recognise you have made a mistake, and have some intent to avoid it in future and make up for it.

Midd December 2022 gave a Vase to Abbeys to Auction on my behalf.Midd February 2023 had not heard back from Abbeys , so tried calling them on a number of occasions with no answer, so Emailed them. Got a reply with documentation not related to the above sale ( they are clearly unorganised). Had to ask 3 times via email before Abbeys finally sent me an invoice stating the Vase was sold 16/12/22 .Abbeys ended up paying me two months later being 16/02/23.I’m sure if I had not chased this up I would never had been paid at all.This is a big warning ⚠️Be very careful if using Abbeys.I will never use them again.I use to use Abbeys back in the midd 80s . They had a different owner then( Tony ) Great operator however with these new owners in two words. “ Terrible “ “ Untrustworthy “Also their 26% fee is outrageous considering what’s happened to me.
