I completed my Advanced Open Water course with Mel. I found her to be extremely organised, professional and very helpful. She made the course a lot of fun!

A brilliant experience and Open Water diver course, Mel is a fantastic trainer, extremely experienced and I knew she was 110% all about safety, I felt safe the whole time, ended up with my qualification for less $ than other companies, what a brilliant family business, beautiful people, I recommend to Octopus Dive Cairns to everyone.

Mel was hands down the best SCUBA dive trainer I’ve had! And I’ve had many.I completed Adv OW and Rescue Diver with Octopus Dive last year.The experience was second to none. Mel and her partner Fred are dedicated to their student’s learning and give clear and logical instruction.Mel also taught my CPR course, and did a great job of that too.Highly recommended.

So happy we found Melanie at Octopus Dive!!! Completely professional experience getting my kids (ages 12&14) Open Water certified. We traveled to Cairns from The Netherlands for their in-person training, but she was a great communicator long before that, as we made our plans and the boys took the online portion of the course. She even held a zoom session with them to review what they had learned so far and to ensure all our expectations were in-sync.Once we met her in-person, she really began to exceed expectations! As a teacher she is equal parts serious and fun and developed such a great rapport with the kids. She was patient and kind, firm and fair.Melanie even acted as a bit of a tour guide, pointing out sights along routes to and from dive sites and even took us for a hike to see a platypus in the wild. She is just so genuinely kind and fun!We are already planning a trip back next year to further the kids’ (and parents’) training with Octopus Dive. It was that good!

I would highly recommend Mel and her team for every diving course you might want to do.
