Blanket Bay
One of the best spots I've been in the great Ocean road. Although the water is still chilly, is has a sort of natural pool and so is a bit warmer. Great spot to picnic !

Nice beach but the march flies are here in huge numbers and they hurt.

Sublime and beguiling — when the weather is pleasant (early morning and evenings in summer). From my last visit, it was a dreadful, dreary, grey and wet place to be stuck in, but bad weather passes quickly. Cape Otway to the west provides some protection from southerly fronts that wander through. The rock strata at low tide is interesting to explore (watch for critters, both good and bad), and the shoreline can throw up some peculiar flotsam, like fossilised sea-horses and bottles from far away lands. The campground is well sheltered but falling branches during the storm when I was there caused concern. Blanket Bay is great for photography/artists, challenging one to seek out small vignettes that tell a story or speak of the bay's ruggedness.

My first time camping in Melb and it was absolutely amazing! Great views, weather. Got to see wild koalas and chased crabs on the beach

Beautiful camp site! Well maintained facilities. Right on the coast. Lots of wildlife around. Excellent beaches to explore. Book ahead if going during busy periods.

Worth the trek off the main road even just for a day visit. The road in is unsealed, but in fairly good condition. The bay is lovely and sheltered from the wind, and there’s lots of interesting rocks and shells to pick through if you’re so inclined. Little fairy wrens live in the shrubbery along the beach so you’ll see lots of them flitting about too. Overall a lovely little secret spot.

I've been to MANY beaches in Australia. This is literally the worst beach in Australia, according to my experience. Rocky beach: no swimming; LOTS of seaweed: no place for sunbath;, and, a long drive on a dirt road to get there.Do yourself a favour, and visit some other amazing beaches on that Area.

We hiked in to Blanket Bay as part of the Great Ocean Walk. It's a nice campground with lawn, trees and shelter, away from the car camping area. Just down some stairs to the mostly sandy beach. Not the most stunning beach ever but calm water good for a swim if it's warm enough. We saw numerous koalas, so be sure to look up!

An amazing destination tucked away in the Otways. If you get the chance to explore this area, it's certainly well worth it. The dirt roads probably aren't well suited to sedans, especially in wet weather so take care. Lots of walking tracks around the area. Wildlife everywhere and if you're lucky, you'll probably end up seeing more then a few koalas up in the trees.
