Australian Fitness Academy

I had an excellent experience completing my Cert III and Cert IV in Fitness with the Australian Fitness Academy. I live remote so I thought there may be areas of this course that I would struggle to complete but it was made super smooth with the help of the student support team.I found that the online content was easy to navigate and presented in an engaging way. The assignments were relevant and related to the online content.I am extremely pleased that I chose the AFA to study with and could not be happier with the support and qualification that I received from them.

You’re paying $4k for about 50 PowerPoints and two PDFs that are riddled with spelling errors and dodgy information.The questions in the assignments require knowledge that is often not presented anywhere in the PDFs OR the PowerPoints. You will fail assignments with very little explanation as to why. You will be asked to resubmit written assignments THAT YOU PASSED, and the quiz assignments require you to get 100% correct answers. They give you case studies to write programs for, then want you to instruct the programs to real people who do not match who the program was written for and get the real life client’s feedback (hopefully everyone you know has tons of free time to run random programs, and OH, surely your friends don’t mind giving up their personal details so AFA can contact them at random hours to quiz them on your performance). The course materials are weirdly out of date and clearly not put together by anyone who has used a computer before: Buggy PDFs, inconsistent information, loads of irrelevant information, huge number of misspellings, grammatical errors, etc. I ran some of my assignments past actual PTs who had issues with the things AFA tries to teach, from screening to programming.The “student support” people are borderline rude.They WILL NOT OFFER ANY KIND of refund for their online course for which they are not actually providing you anything but access to already existing materials, so when I saw how poor the course was and wanted out of the cert IV when I was only a few months into the cert III, I had to either just let them have my money for doing nothing or stick with it for another awful 15 units. Want a break? Too bad, AFA does not allow you to defer your (ONLINE!) course either. You also can’t pay up front, which I wanted to do, because they charge a “service fee“ for every single payment you make, so they try to get you to spread payments over as long as possible. What a scummy thing to do.The course also REQUIRES you to complete First Aid training, but they have the gall to charge extra for it.Please read the other low reviews as they are all accurate.There is a reason AFA is a cheap option: they are a bad option. Please do yourself a favour and study fitness literally anywhere else.

What an amazing experience the past 8 months have been learning face to face at AFA! All the lecturers were super knowledgable and provided different teaching styles to learn from. I loved the equal balance of practical and theory which made it easy to retain the information that was taught. Thanks to the team for a great year, I would highly recommend studying with AFA.

Completing my face to face course with AFA was the best decision I ever made. Studying face to face really gave me the opportunity to get hands on and applying the knowledge we learnt and also getting the chance to learn from the best Lecturers, who have many years of experience in the industry down their sleeve. Not only did I learn from the best and gained lots of experience and knowledge, I was lucky enough to make life long friends as well. 100% recommend to anyone who is looking to get into the fitness industry or just for interest in themselves, you will learn from the best at AFA and come out of the course, an incredible trainer.

I completed my Certificate III & IV face-to-face with the team at AFA this year and it honestly was one of the greatest experiences of my life! The team there are incredibly knowledgeable and friendly, and welcome every student that walks through their doors with open arms! Shout out to every single educator there for producing top-quality and successful PT's, and for dedicating their time and resources to their students everyday.

Without a doubt would recommend AFA to everyone. I just finished studying my Certificate III and IV face to face with them and I have to say best decision I’ve ever made. All the lecturers there are amazing and are always filled with a contagious positive attitude and energy. There was never a bad day at AFA or a day that I wasn’t surrounded with so much support and guidance.Face to face was the best way to do this course. I got to pick the brains of all my classmates and highly experienced trainers everyday. Everyone kept each other on track and helped each other out while holding ourselves and our classmates at a high standard every time. I am so thankful for all the AFA team who got me through this course. :)

Further Edited- received below response. It is even further disappointing to see how AFA thinks below comment is ok. Not at once did they apologise or acknowledge comment was extremely inappropriate, they just keep trying to brush it off. How could they be teaching modules about customer service and how to deal with complaints when they cannot even have any decency to acknowledge their mistake? I'm afraid it's back to 1 star.Edited- AFA called me back regarding below. Although AFA provided solutions to work around below task (which isn’t helpful really). AFA did not acknowledge below comment was really inappropriate. As much as I appreciate AFA’s trying to resolve this issue, sometimes acknowledgment is really important. In addition, it is A FACT that this course requires too many participants. I gave one additional star to acknowledge AFA tried to help.This AFA has too many modules that requires the whole world to participate. I am here in Australia with no families here and all of them are in China. All of my friends also left Australia due to Covid. In China, no one can access Zoom which they are unable to help. I clearly reflected my difficulties to the customer service and this customer service did not even acknowledge my difficulties instead replied Great! ( Meaning I am in Australia) this will work out for you....."!!!???? What kind of customer service is this!? This customer service did not even acknowledge the fact that all my family and friends are in China. This customer service just kept referring to ask my colleagues and take out 30 minutes of their time to simply help out!? She thinks it's a simple favour that anyone can do it not to say they want 4 participants to participate all at the SAME time. A bit of understanding would be appreciated. Please WORK ON YOUR CUSTOMER SERVICE SKILLS. It's disappointing to see the lack of common sense from your people."

I have just completed my Certificate 4, Face to Face at the Australian Fitness Academy (AFA). I cannot recommend AFA enough! Absolutely amazing trainers and lecturers with so much industry experience and so much care for their students. I have enjoyed every minute of my study here and learned so much. I recommend anyone to go Face to Face, as it is so valuable at this facility and you gain so much more knowledge and skills you can’t get online with a onsite gym to learn in. AFA makes sure their students will leave the facility industry ready at a high standard ready for students to tackle all goals. Thank You AFA!!

I would highly recommend the face-to-face courses for Certificates III and IV in fitness for anyone interested in becoming a personal trainer or following a similar career in the fitness industry. In addition to the necessary skills and knowledge being taught well, I had lots of practical and personal development, because of the influence and expertise of the teaching staff, and the facility being a great practical learning environment with classrooms and a gym.

I have absolutely loved my time at AFA. I have just recently completed the face to face courses & I am blown away by the amount of fun I had during my studies. I was very hesitant to sign up but so glad I did. The face to face learning really allowed me to learn a lot from the lecturers & pick their brain for any advice I needed. I felt supported, I felt challenged & I have gained so much knowledge in the industry thus far. To study at AFA was so much fun & an absolute privilege. I cannot recommend the face to face studying enough & if you’re thinking about it, definitely do it!!
