An absolutely beautiful bridge in the Hunter Valley in the historical river port of Morpeth.

Such a nice bridge. Sturdy and yet aesthetically pleasing at the same time. If you like bridges, this one won't let you down, but it will let you across.

Morpeth Historical Bridge
a beautiful old historic bridge crossing the hunter river. its a little narrow but comfortable enough for 2 4x4s to cross comfortably side by side. it is restricted to one heavy vehicle at a time so beware of trucks waiting to cross.

Amazing construction. Reflections on water nice. Can walk under pylon on town side. Pity no walking path across bridge. 1890's, very few left in NSW.

Morpeth Bridge was opened on 15 June 1898 and crosses the Hunter River. The bridge is of timber trestle construction, employing Allan trusses—it was designed by Percy Allan and built by Mr. S. M'Gill. It has two central iron cylinder span supports fabricated by Mort's Dock. It is currently managed by the Roads and Maritime Services and has recently received repairs to the road surface on the two lanes. The structure is heritage listed by the state government and at the time cost £8,360 to construct.

Old historic bridge. On the western end below the bridge is John Wright's farm. He grows and sells vegetables like corn, beet roots and millet. He also has beehives and sells honey. He makes and sells brooms made from the stalks of millet plants grown on his farm. His barn is like museum. It has old horse carriages and old farm michineries.
