Simon's Peking Duck Chinese Restaurant
The Peking duck set menu is delicious!Loved the crispy duck skin with the pancake, absolutely full of duck flavour, goes really well with the cucumber, spring onion and special sauce, all wrapped inside a thin pancake (the pancake was on the thin side tonight but I didn’t mind it because the flavour is all about the duck!) If you like spicy, ask for chilli oil, it takes the dish to the next level! The second course of stir fried bean shoot with duck meat had a wok hay flavour, yum! I preferred this over the noodles.Lastly the duck done soup was really flavourful and tasty, pieces of tofu inside the soup. Note: you only get one bowl of soup per person, even if you ordered more than one duck.Overall we had a great time. The waiter entertained us by throwing the pancake onto our plates, very interactive and entertaining! This is the busiest restaurant in the area so make sure to book ahead so you won’t be disappointed. Highly recommended if you love duck. Great service, will be back!

Good customer service. Unfortunately, the food tasted bland to me (the soup and stir-fried). The Peking duck itself tasted fine. I understand this comes down to personal preference. Also, a baby was screaming for the majority of my time at the restaurant and that impacted the dining experience.

This is the best place for having peking duck. I remember back in 1996, Simon taught me how to wrap the pecking deck (3 o’clock rule!). I will always remember him as the entertainer and king of Peking duck!. The food, the place and the staffs are outstanding! Thank you

Truly amazing find. Great value for money and Peking Duck done right. Besides the delicious duck, the Bean Sprout dish was the highlight and the soup was the perfect way to finish the meal. I’m sure to be back for round 2.

I love peking duck. I have just recently gone to Simon's for about 2 times. The 1st time I had lunch there and the duck was so delicious. The pancakes were thin but nice. But the 2nd time, we went there for dinner time, 8pm, the pancakes were quite hard, not tasty like the first time. Overall, should go there for lunch as less busy and better food.

Simon was an iconic character who loved his customers whole heartedly and was well-known for tossing his famous pancakes upon serving (which they still do!). After his devastating passing, the restaurant lives on in his honour.Currently they are not offering their usual full menu and only focussing on Duck. You order set menus where the whole duck is used across 3 dishes. Beginning with deliciously crispy skinned duck pieces and pancakes served with spring onion, cucumbers and a special plum sauce. Then a duck meat noodle dish of your choice, with either thin, thick (my favourite) or crispy noodles. Finishing with a duck bone broth soup, bold and rich. Each set menu goes by the duck, where it is recommended 1 duck per 2-3 people. The staff were so hospitable and proud of the food they put out for us. I’m so happy for them to have this new opportunity but also that although the inside has had a facelift, they still produce the same great, authentic food.

There is a reason Peking Duck is my favourite dish overall in Chinese Cuisine. Especially in Scandinavia, your highest expectation is just a really good roast duck. Here, they've got a nearly perfected technique, even the barely- there cuts of duck meat are presented accurately.Incredibly crisp thin skin, oiled but not soggied. The experience utilises whole duck as per the traditional dish. These leftover dishes accompany as a delicious duck broth soup with slight herbal flavour similar to 乌鸡汤; and thick, hand-pulled rice noodles.Loved this so much, took me right back to Beijing. Price point is also hard to argue, for all those on a budget. It's just under $35aud per head total- and that includes all our alcoholic beverages. Such an affordable price, particularly for this traditionally luxurious splurge! I would expect to pay more than triple this price elsewhere for equivalent quality.

Peking duck was pretty good, guy who served it to us was nice and smiley but some of the other wait staff were not as friendly.. noodle serving size however was pretty dismal considering one serve was meant to feed 2-3 people, and costly too. On the bright side it was 90% veggies and 10% noodles? So while the atmosphere and decor here is better, I reckon Old Kingdom had a more generous serving of duck and noodles at a better price point.Check me out on insta @_chewrious for more food reviews!! :)

Great duck. Nice food. Bustling and informal atmosphere. Great staff. A good one to visit. Book your duck/s prior to your visit.

If there is a negative score, I would like to give a negative score. Trust me, DO NOT GO!The service is absolutely shocking, same as the rough food like street food level. Except 2 duck options on the menu 3 veggie dishes can be chosen, nothing else on the menu is available, at all! Even beer, one option only.I was served by the boss, who is absolutely the rudest witness i ever met. Even just only two duck options, she served the wrong one. And insist on I order the wrong one and want to charge me extra for fix it.Regarding the duck, I am highly suspect those people who wrote positive reviews was paid for the review or never have Peking (Beijing) duck before at all. The meat slices form the duck was out of shape just like did by my 8 years old girl. And the meat was way too thick as Beijing duck. The spring onion was not even sliced, but simply chops. The cucumbers……my god, do not known how to tell u how badly prepared. The duck is burned (see attached photos)All cup, bowl and dish are unhealthy plastic, oh, the spoon too, and they are chipped! The spoon used for sauce is 50/$2 disposable plastic spoon. OMG.There r just so much I want to say about this shop. I think they must get too much money from the VIC gov during COVID, and They should just be shut down.
