Toomulla Campsite
Good free camp for an overnighter but watch out for the sand flies. It does have a kids playground.

Shady site, boat ramp to river with crocodile warning - no swimming access. Nice playground, bbq & picnic area; toilets need a good clean, BYO paper and soap. No shops nearby.

Great little place to park up for 2 nights along your travels. Shady trees, boat ramp, a short stroll to the water, no swimming as beware of croc. Register by phoning Townsville council or by using the q r code located at the entrance

Has toilets and water bbq and tables no shower or beach access, great area if you want to be alone very little campers mainly locals using boat ramp and fishing.

This is a lovely clean free camp site. You need to get in early because it fills up fast. There are clean toilets. There is a large playground for kids, there is some of the most clean BBQ'S I have ever seen, and a large undercover area with tables and chairs. The area is surrounded buy mangroves so there are crocodiles in the area and the beach had a lot if sand erosion when I was there so it was impossible to get on to the beach. However the area is just lovely to sit back relax and read a book. Enjoy.

We stayed here for 1 night on our way from Townsville to Cairns. You have to book ahead with the Townsville council, stay is 48 hours. There are very clean toilets, playground for the kids and plenty of room for big rigs.You can pick where you want to park.Generators can be used between certain times as there are homes near by.There is a boat ramp for keen fishermen,but I wouldn't swim as there are crocodiles.
