Enjoyable experience to learn more about Darwin’s history.Entry is free, donations are appreciated. Staff are very helpful and friendly.Need about 45mins to an hour to walk around and read everything.It’s not uncomfortable to visit on a warm day, some of the buildings are thick and therefore cool (compared to outside). However, we live in Darwin, so are used to the heat!

We really enjoyed this interlude with the history of Fanny Bay Gaol. The new audio app allowed us into the stories of the people who inhabited the walls over time. Even though we visited in the middle of the day, there was always adequate shade where we were to listen to each station. Highly recommend to anyone interested in history. Congratulations to Museum NT for the experience. Free entry but donation welcome.

Great place to go to learn about Darwin's prison history. The bloke at the front gate is a character and a good source of information. It is also free to enter (donations appreciated), can't really go wrong. It will kill an hour of your time and you can learn a fair bit.

I highly recommend visiting here. I found the staff to be really nice too.No fee but please bring some cash to make a donation. Also they have a cold drinking fountain which is a plus.The history of the site is interesting so make sure you read the signs when you get here.

Today we visited the historical Fanny Bay Gaol. It is very interesting to see the different prison cells and learn about the hangings from the past.
