Queens Road Studio

I recorded an EP with Jake Nauta about 18 months ago and it was such a positive experience. Not only is Jake a great engineer and producer, but a talented musician himself giving him a broad sense of understanding when it comes to the multifaceted nature of recording. He made the atmosphere easy and fun, gave an enormous effort over the short period of time I had to record the EP and I couldn't have been more happy with the end result, something that I couldn't have done on my own. The studio has an awesome vibe and is in a beautiful location. Jake really went above and beyond for my EP, I'm still happy with it 18 months later which is a miracle for me! :)

Had the awesome opportunity to record our debut EP at Queens Road Studio in May/June 2013. This was easily some of the best studio experiences I've had to date! The Studio itself is situated on a large blue mountains property surrounded by trees, bushland, and stunning views, while the inside has a very professional yet comfortable and homely vibe to it. Gear-wise, the studio is very well-equipped and also has a collection of vintage microphones (which are awesome!!). We spent long days tracking parts, writing riffs, and having lots of laughs, all the while putting together a very professional album. Jake, our engineer, was fantastic to work with! As an experienced professional musician himself, Jake was able to articulate the real technical stuff to us in ways that we could understand which made the recording process for us so much easier. We're planning to record our next project at Queens Road Studio and we highly recommend that you do to!!

I have worked with Jake, the engineer @ Queens Road on two occasions now, and both times I have been really grateful for how professional and knowledgeable he is, and also how flexible he has been as my method has been frankly unpredictable.On my first occasion, I had never recorded before but Jake helped me feel very comfortable, focused and confident as I sang and played guitar. The recordings were better than I imagined they could be.The second time I had Jake mix and master a pre-recorded track. Despite being an unconventional style, quite long, and quite dynamic, Jake mixed it with ease and captured my vision wonderfully. Only minor tweaks were needed after the first draft.The studio itself is quiet, comfortable, and very welcoming. It seems to be a very flexible space. I'd love to come back one day with more musicians and instruments, and I'd have no hesitations about Jake's ability to handle anything I throw at him with ease.

My wife and I recorded much of our debut album here, and also had it mixed here, and we were stoked with the results. Public response to the sound of the album has been fantastic as well - people are stunned at the sound we achieved. So much of this comes down to Jake's fantastic ear, engineering abilities, and mixing prowess. The recording spaces were also fantastic to work in, and we felt at home the whole time. I couldn't recommend Queens Road Studio more highly - we will certainly be going there again!

It was such a great experience recording my debut EP at the studio. The beautiful location was very inspiring! Jake was also an absolute pleasure to work with - so easy going, patient, understanding and just a great guy in general. He didn't try to change my sound but offered great advice and support that I needed along the way. It's something I very much appreciated and I think anyone else who works with him will appreciate too. Everything just made my first EP experience special and I believe you can hear it in the quality of the tracks we recorded. Overall, I couldn't have asked for more!

Jake Nauta is one of those rare producers who listens and creates alongside you. Upon walking into the studio you are made to feel relaxed and at home. His personable style envelops you in a space where you're comfortable to try new things and explore each songs possibilities.He has a special flare for delicate harmonies, added textures and layering that take the simplest song to the next level.With the quality of his mixing and production, Jake has a long career ahead of him, already attracting attention from top US mastering engineers.I'm very proud to have worked with him.

Jake as a producer and engineer with his calm nature, creativity and high level of professionalism, along with the peaceful location and quality studio were exactly what was needed for our project. 100% would recommend!!!!!
