The Redfern Community Centre has a long history of spearheading First nation peoples rights in Australia, It is the original grounds for one of the first Aboriginal tent embassies, and has a long and proud history for standing up against oppression and suppression aimed at all FNP's by the Commonwealth Govt and status quo. The Centre sits on Gadigal peoples lands -and with that being said - I acknowledge the traditional owners and all elders past and present. I am honored and impressed with the facilities and the Community spirit of the Redfern community centre. WHEN I stepped in the door I had a local Aboriginal elder take me through the premises the staff knew him as a local indigenous Elder so I must admit we had a great tour of the facilities. First-up there is the free wifi for anyone entering the Redfern community centre there is also free use of the computer's of which there are four or five... there is the after school centre which caters for primary school children to come in after school chill relax read do fun things also. There is a Community Kitchen where you can make yourself a coffee, have a snack make a cup of tea - whatever you would like and there are facilities upstairs which help with local community artists and musicians nurture the chosen profession. Each week there are many community activities there are many community groups which use the facilities and there are many things going on on a daily basis at the Redfern Community Centre. Outside the community centre you can sit and talk. You are within reach of at least two or three really good coffee lounges, you are in close proximity to the Redfern Aboriginal woman's refuge Centre and other iconic Aboriginal groups that are known around the world. The artwork and murals outside are also beautiful. Thank you to the local elder and all fnp's in my pics - who showed me through the community centre and thank you to all the staff that helped me understand what the community centre really represents for the Aboriginal community and all community members in the Redfern area. FREE use of the facilities, Wi-Fi computers, and ir's rich long history - I gave this centre a rating of 5 out of 5.

Amazing place to learn more about Aboriginal health and culture. I was there for professional development and I was very impressed by the calibre of facilitation that took place at that centre. It's very close to the station and there are plenty of resources there for people learning about indigenous culture and also for them as well. My only issue is that parking is more of a struggle so I would advise catching the train or bus instead. There are plenty of facilities there for a venue or function to be held.
