Pretty cool historic site at the summit of the Mount Direction walking track! The ruins of the old house were very intact l, you could really get a sense of the family that lived there. The well was cool- great information boards explaining how everything worked, very informative and interesting! A great reward on the hike before the walk back down the mountain. Can’t wait to come back here when it’s a bit drier for a challenging run!

Never knew this was here after living in the valley 25 yrs...steep walk but very doable ..worth it

Tamar Valley Semaphore System Mount Direction
Track is well formed but quite steep. There are seats along the way for rest breaks. I would advise moderate fitness. Please be aware it is slippery on the scree and at the ruins at the summit. It is easily 45 min to with photo stops for fungi and other flora. We took 1.5 hours to summit and back with photos along the way and exploring the ruins. There are no amenities whatsoever. And no water. Please go prepared.

1.5 hour return walking trip along local vegetation underlain by colluvium dolerite towards the slope crest ( gently steep). Fantastic lookout of Eastern Tamar Valley.
