Honestly, the best counsellor i've had in my life. Its really important with this type of therapy to build true rapport with your counsellor in order to have successful sessions. She has helped me grow so much and I truely value what she has given me and continues to give me.

Absolutely brilliant highly recommend Evanthea (Ev)!3 months ago, I was referred through to Evanthea by a friend, when I had some challenging behaviours, we had been facing for some time with my now 5-and-a-half-year-old daughter. With school looming, I started to panic, whilst they seemingly started to get progressively worse.I noticed that her behaviour was escalating at day care and during playdates (attention seeking, aggression, not listening and manipulative tendencies). As a parent, its hard to exactly “know” what’s going on, we either excuse the behaviour as “normal” or we are quick to put a label on it like ADHD in which this (at the time) I was starting to lean towards.Enter Evanthea. Over the course of a couple of short sessions with her, Ev made several observations throughout the first session that completely blew me away. Through play-based therapy, she was provided clear feedback to the reasoning why it was not necessarily ADHD but rather behaviours of concern. She identified that my daughter appeared to have some trouble regulating her emotions, provided me tips on why this may be (in relation to my own parenting styles), asked my daughter a series of questions (whilst busy in a session of art) and upon observing her responses, I identified very quickly that I needed to change some strategies immediately. So, without going into me lifelong story, Ev was able to provide us with several recommendations and put forward plan/strategy to allow my daughter and I to work together to improve what had been occurring for some time. After the initial plan was implemented, Ev checked in on a regular basis (via calls and video, in person) to see how we were progressing. Fast forward and the results speak for themselves. Her behaviour has improved by 100%, her listening, responsiveness, aggression has disappeared and those behaviours of concern I had, are now a distant memory. Her day-care providers are shocked at how things have changed for the better in short, a short period of time. The reason I believe Ev’s approach is so effective is that she focuses on a holistic play-based approach, that is natural, comforting and reassuring rather than clinical which can be overwhelming for children and allow for them not to show their true selves. There is no judgement or labels placed on the children straight off the bat like other interactions we have had, and time is taken to explore all avenues and ideas. What was clear to me from the get-go is Ev’s passion and genuine love for little people which is comforting. If you are facing challenging behaviours, need a second opinion or support on what to do next Ev is it. I can’t highly recommend enough. I will continue to work with Ev as we progress into school and her environment changes, because less face it. We aren’t born parents; we know what we know and to have a support in place like Ev I believe is critical for all parents at one stage or another.

Ev is an amazing person/therapist, who really gets her clients, this enables her to move at a pace that most impacts and empathises. I've seen such a shift that previously i did not think possible...genuine, caring and a real benefit...her knowledge of services and strategies is vast and i would highly recommend working with her...
