Malabar Ocean Pool

:( completely abandoned pool.. there is a bird, a lot of moss, and very little water. I’m distraught

Beautiful weather here . Occasionally you would hear the firing from the ANZAC range , there is plenty of space , popular with spear fishing. Parking is generally 4hrsLimited shaded areas around the pool , so suggest you bring extra sunblock or a pitch a sun tent

45 yrs ago i left Sydney (1979) after growing up here. Then pool and beach was closed. Today... blown away by the transformation. Such a beautyful area now.

Overlooking Long Bay and the Randwick Rifle Range on its opposite shore, this asymmetrical rockpool has a long history in various forms, from a small swimming hole in the late 19th Century to a 150 metre monster through much of the 20th, before ending up as this 33 metre version in 1997.There’s no facilities like change rooms or toilets at Malabar Ocean Pool, but it does have everything else: ramps and handrails, outdoor showers, benches to sit on and even hooks to hang your stuff on set into the surrounding rocks.There’s plenty of free parking on the street and it has a nice chilled and casual mainly locals vibe. There’s great fun to be had at the far corner as waves crash over it into the pool and it’s full of marine life for budding snorkelers. At 1.9 metres deep it makes for a good swimming experience.This was our second visit in two years and there’ll probably be a third in the future.

Beautiful beach, not crowded and crystal water

My latest fav place. A beach and a rock pool and there is a even hiking trek! Do Malabar headlands hiking and jump into the water. That is just perfect!

Malabar Ocean Pool is nestled away from the main beach and quieter than other city beaches ocean pools. It’s a decent sized pool perfect for laps or cooling off in warmer weather. As normal with ocean pools, there is moss build up so can get slippery- be careful! Parking available in the street and it’s a short flight of stairs down to the pool

Great place for a early morning swim, and never too busy!

Gorgeous, big pool. Has open showers, nice spots to sit, hooks to hang clothes.
