Oh I love this place with a passion. Being one of the oldest cinemas in the region in recent years it has found new life, it golden years. Run by a small team of volunteers, they show the movies that you wouldn't normally see at you local big screen cinema. The best part of the Regal (apart from the movies) is how it is less of a individual viewing experience and more of a whole with the rest of the patron's. If you are looking for more that just seeing the latest blockbuster and want an experience, go to the Regal Cinema and do yourself a massive favour.

Small intimate cinema. Best value in town, with unlimited free snacks and drinks included in your ticket price of only $8. Cheap choc tops. Comfortable seats, although not tiered, so get there early to get a good seat if you're short or with kids.Friendly manager / cashier film announcer, and wonderful volunteer catering team. Shows a range of Hollywood and independent films. Popular with over 55s, but plenty to be enjoyed by all ages.Parking lot and on street spaces available, free. Up to 300m walk. Disabled ramp access at the side. Air conditioned. Great community facility.

Great community cinema. Friendly, relaxed, happy vibe. High quality films and humorous, informative intros by George. Exceptional value. Going to The Regal is much more than just going to the movies. If you love a variety of really great films and enjoy the warmth and fun of being part of a big friendly audience then it's an Experience not to be missed.

They have great movies....but more than that there is always a great atmosphere, great ambience , everyone talks to each other, they communicate, they laugh and laugh and laugh...it is always fun.And we get fed and watered all in the ticket price!Jo and George are a wonderful asset to Newcastle and they, along with their volunteers do an amazing job of entertaining us and bringing great movies and entertainment to us....well done and a huge thankyou.Love this place....

Arrived 1/2 hour before the film started and there was already a line up. I would highly recommend pre booking so you're guaranteed a seat. For $8, not only do you get to see a movie, but there was food and drinks provided as well. My daughter helped herself to Milo in a Prince William and Kate mug. I don't know of any other cinema where you could get that. Loved the atmosphere, felt like you were stepping back in time. There was an introduction before the movie which provided some laughs. It may not have the high tech features of the big cinemas, but I would rather go to the Regal for the experience any day.

Great hosts George and Jo unbelievably enticed screen legends Bryan Brown and his beautiful wife Rachel Ward to this humble picture theatre to promote their new film Palm Beach. A big Thank You to both these humble stars for introductions, interviews and photos, it made all the movie attendees day, week, year !!Even bigger Thanks to the hosts and their volunteers who work tirelessly to keep this small independent cinema afloat !! Please Support... Cheers !!

Such a special experience. The first time we thought it was a special screening, with all the volunteers, food and drink, and the formal (and entertaining) introduction. Turns out every screening is special at the Regal. You need to experience this to understand what a remarkable gem this place is. You cannot walk away from The Regal without your heart being filled with joy and inspiration.

What a wonderful walk down memory lane, all the lovely, happy, friendly people that were all together in that hall, watching an old, funny movie. They handed out choc top icecreams, tea, OJ, even a tot of port for those who wanted one, and all for the amazing entry price of $10 !!! We just loved the talk at the beginning about the history of the cinema, the volunteers that make it happen, and the guy who was running it was so happy to see everyone and was very genuine in the way he spoke about his obvious love for cinema in general. We enjoyed ourselves immensely and hope to do it again soon.....
