Jailhouse Grill
The waitress's service is good, salad bar is nice but the steak is overcooked and taste very burned. We order 400g steaks and looks not enough for it.Suggest don't show the chef face to the customer, when we sent the meal back that was not looks good with his reaction.And also the waiter help us to sent meals back didn't come to explain what's going on at all. It's really a bad experience.

The staff at the Art House on York recommended the Jailhouse Grill.Despite the name, which suggests the building was a jail or there might be a jailhouse theme, neither seemed true. It's just a clever name.The staff were friendly and attentive. I called ahead for a booking and was seated promptly on arrival.The large salad bar is included with nearly every meal, the kitchen is open so you can see your meal being prepared, and the portion size is reasonable for price.My only minor complaint was the delay between ordering and the food arriving was longer than I might like, but this wasn't much of an issue and fairly common in Australian restaurants.One of the best places I ate in Launceston.

Great Scotch Fillet. I deliberately didn’t order any additional sauce to go with it in order to appreciate the original taste. It didn’t disappoint me. Flavourful, tender & cooked to perfection. The salad bar was a pleasant addition to the mains. Not many varieties but every cooked dish in the bar tasted deliciously good. Could come here just for the salad bar! The hot mud cake with ice cream and fresh cream was by far the best mud cake I’ve had.

We were most impressed by the duck in plum sauce (entree), very tender, flavourful, we like the sauce a lot.For the steaks, the carpet bag was interesting, the combination of steak and oyster was just so good, strong and fresh flavours. The mushroom sauce for steak medallions was very creamy and the steak was tender. The fried potatoes were nice, crispy on the outside but a bit bland in the inside. And we like the self help salad bar that come with the main.

Everything was great. Was a little to loud for me but that didn't really matter. The staff were fantastic and the food was delicious. Loved the salad bar. The young lady that served us I think her name was Aspin has great people skills.

Can't fault. Hubby and I have been here twice now and have enjoyed our meals both times. The oysters are mouth watering. We have had duck, pot pie, skewer prawns and steak. All delicious. We loved the salad bar with lots of choices. Everything is reasonably priced and fresh. Just the amount of waiting time and served by friendly staff. The diner style seats are comfy and private and the atmosphere is warm and inviting. 5 Stars!

Good ol’ steakhouse in downtown Launceston. Steaks were delivered exactly as we ordered and it was great to see the chefs cooking them. As we had 3 coeliacs, GF was super important and they did not disappoint.Also, I was surprised that we needed to book, but super glad we did as it was really busy on a Tuesday night.

Delicious food - fresh oysters, great lamb rump (cooked to medium rare as requested) and the all you can eat salad bar is a bonus, especially try the stir fry vegetables. Very friendly and attentive service.
