Arthurs Hotel Restaurant

It’s more of a cafe or restaurant than a hotel. The name is probably historical.The place has superb views of the bay, Mount Martha etc from the top of Arthur’s Seat. It’s superb on a sunny day. You can see for miles over the water. The potential is a little untapped here as the place needs a bit of modernisation. The menu too needs a bit of an update and we passed on the food as result and just had a coffee. The coffee was ok but it is on the more expensive side at $5 a cup.The best views are reserved for those having a meal. We could be tempted to return for a meal if there’s a makeover done in the future.

This experience has been a love / hate relationship as they say... For an establishment to be blessed enough to have such an iconic location, priceless views and a captive audience, it is a shame that both times we have been there, there has been things that are just not quite right.The first time we tried they basically closed the premises in our face even though the new chairlift was still operating for another two hours or more and despite the fact that there were still a lot of people wanting to eat and potentially make a lot of money for the venue.The second time we visited the establishment we made sure we were there with plenty of time for the venue to still be serving.. we were greeted by a nice staff member who sat us at our table, there were four or so spare tables near the window and when I asked if we could sit there we were informed that they were all reserved. I took note that maybe one or two of those tables were taken while we were there but there were still two tables vacant the whole time we were there so not sure why we were told we couldn't sit there.We finally ordered (only two staff on to waiter, take orders, make drinks, clear and serve, maybe a little light on for a sunny day during the school holidays?) My husband ordered the Lamb Shank, I ordered the Calamari and my daughter ordered the Porterhouse Steak Sandwich.... Although they were nice I certainly will not be paying $30 - $37 again for calamari and chips, a steak sandwich with chips and a meal that looked it had just been reheated in a microwave (The Lamb Shanks). For prices that ranged from $18 for a pumpkin soup (far out!) and $30+ for simple pub meal or entree, I would at least expect more staff on, maybe a white table cloth or at least chic butchers paper and a better chair than some old fashioned set of pub chairs...This place has serious potential, the food is good, the views are excellent ,the wine is actually priced well and the staff friendly enough... but the pricing is a little on the rude side considering the level of furniture and service... I just hope they work it out before it is too late.

Great food and fantastic views. The staff were friendly and kind. Very fast service and they even made me a custom Mocha (Coffee & Chocolate) Shake.It's a good place to stop and have something to eat if you are in the area.Highly recommended.

We had lunch here because the specials board showed good items at very good prices. I had an awesome paella and my wife had tacos. (No plates, as other reviewers have said.) So, the food was great and the view is superb - second to nothing in the world - BUT there are some issues. I ordered a bottle of House Chardonnay - cheapest you've got." Beautiful lookout from the hotel. They serve amazing Iced Chocolate. Very small walk from the park. Nice little cafe and not too crowded.

Excellent view on a sunny day, food also good as we like the garlic bread, ramen with pork and kids meal - fish and chips. The kids also love iced chocolate though forgot to take photos.

Food: Big servings, plenty of meal options including Australian wine and other drinks. Ordered wagyu burger which came with very chunky fries. Taste is decent but nothing extraordinary.Ambience: View is spectacular on a sunny day, plus, you can see Melbourne City from this side. Good for family lunches or dinners or dates.Service: Friendly staff although might need more manpower (there was only one person waiting the tables on a Friday afternoon)Price: Bit pricey but reasonable for the serving size and good location. Approximately 30AUD-50AUD per person.Recommend this place of you are visiting Mornington Peninsula.
