We come up to Dargo every winter for a bit of 4WD fun. We stay in the pub accommodation for a couple of nights, we drink in the pub (oh boy do we drink in the pub) and we eat in the pub.. You want a real country pub with great service, great atmosphere and great hosts.. come and spend some time at the Dargo Hotel. For all those that write a review and complain about how hard it is to get a meal or the pubs full of locals.. get over it. Its a country pub its always going to be full of locals and it will always be busy especially in winter when a lot of tourists want to go bush riding or 4WD driving.. have a bit of common sense and book ahead. If you want to eat ring the pub and book a table.. not rocket science. You would be doing it in the city without a second thought.. Come to think of it I'm now going to ring the pub and book my June accommodation.. see you soon

We arrived late after a bit of a rough morning at 13:55hr. Food service said 12-2pm so as it was close to the wire. So I asked with a smiling face are you still serving food? After 3 staffs opinions we got an answer with a blunt ‘no steak’. So to confirm ‘you are still happy to serve us?’. ‘No steak’ was my reply again. After a few moments of deciding (and we were about ready) a miserable and grumpy women in the kitchen said ‘we haven’t got all day, it’s a holiday’ at which stage I felt we were not welcome. None of the 10 (yes 10) kitchen staff had a smile or a friendly demeanour. We worked out.I must say the bar staff were smiling and welcoming, but at this stage we didn’t even want a drink. If you are not happy to serve, don’t open or get another job/ business. The Dargo pub is obviously doing well, there are some great reviews, they obviously don’t need our custom. My husband, 7 year old daughter and I were so looking forward to visiting Dargo and truly wanted to patronise the Dargo Pub, but we have left very disappointed not with not eating the pub food, but the unfriendliness of the staff.I certainly didn’t want to pay a surcharge for such grumpy and unfriendly service.I do hope they enjoy the rest of their Easter though and the people still eating lunch were not rushed out.N/A room stay.

This pub has so much character that it's hard to put in words. Bar keeps are very friendly and love a chat. Beers are cold, and food is hot. And you can camp in their back paddock with the sheep. There is plenty to explore in the area, and the Vic High Country bekons. Stop in. It's worth it. It was a little chilly over the weekend so make sure you have warm clothes and sleeping arrangements. The wind was also howling through town during the night, so make sure you use big pegs for the tent.

Had a great meal at the pub and staff were friendly. Camp spot is beside a river which was nice. All good until 10pm when 6 Ute’s arrived. They were rude and noisy until 3.30am. No one we could contact so we had to put up with it. If you’re thinking of staying Friday or Saturday night this is what you can expect. A shame it ruined the whole experience of staying at an iconic pub.

The first thing that greeted us as we entered the cabin, was the disgusting smell of the septic sewerage, which could be smelt in the cabinThere were no cooking facilities, bench space or cupboards to store our belongingsWe were woken up every morning by the sound of trucks or electrical equipment. So much for a peaceful getaway ?The cabin felt claustrophobic with no chairs or sofa to sit onI would not recommend this place to anyoneWe will never go back there again!!!!!!!!!!!Response to DARGO hotelEmail 1.Thank you for your prompt response. We did bring this to the attention of your staff behind the bar, and we asked him to move us to the last cabin. He did not ask usthe reason for the move but said the last cabin was booked on Saturday night. It is despicable that you, as the owner, knew about this problem with your septic, but, continued to take our money and house us in this cabin. We would have appreciated learning about the septic ‘problem’ so we could have had a choice about staying at your hotel. We would have appreciated a refund. Given your response, we will now notify the relevant bodies of the problem with the septic sewerage at your establishment in the near future.
