Fantasy Pools Brisbane

We engaged Fantasy Pools in 2017. Construction finished almost 10 months after the agreed start date (almost 7 months longer than the agreed time). It should be noted that the pool was ‘apparently’ a difficult pool as a result of about 200mm of underground water forming after excavation, creating somewhat of a mud-pit to work in, However, the soil test shared with Fantasy Pools prior to excavation clearly indicated surface water would be encountered during excavation. The engineers report also indicated screw piers would be required (an additional cost of $11k in the end), however this wasn’t shared with us till post excavation where we were offered to fill the hole back in and cut our losses ie: pay up to that point (around $15k) and walk away.Issues we encountered with Fantasy Pools include:- A general lack of communication (about next steps, variations, challenges)- An inability to actually start the project for no reason (almost 3 months from the agreed start date). In the end, a request for my deposit back was what got them starting the project- What was in the original quote and the initial contract were not aligned (several items were missing or different)- We received several variations which were never discussed, some in the thousands of dollars, which is a direct breach of the QBCC contract we operated under- One of these variations were tiles that were installed which were never requested (costing us thousands of out of scope dollars). Fantasy Pools blamed the tile company for ‘upselling’ us, despite Fantasy Pool’s tile contractor installing tiles we never agreed to- Excuses: Lupton would tell us how busy he was building so many pools as a an excuse for delays on our pool- Fantasy Pools damaged our property (side fence, storm-water drainage and car port). When approached about this damage, Lupton responded by saying ‘that we should expect damage with such narrow access down the side of the house’, and then wouldn’t agree to fix any of the damage his contractors caused- We ended up in a QCAT mediation where Lupton commented he had ‘significant’ experience with the QCAT process (not something I would personally be proud of). Fantasy Pools took us to QCAT due to an unpaid invoice for the final stage. We withheld payment as the stage was incomplete (concrete was in the filtration system).I will note that the final pool looks great ie: the final build quality appears to be high-quality. It's just a shame there was so much pain to get there...

Lupton and his team were excellent. The project ran to schedule and the quality throughout was excellent. I would definitely recommend to a friend.
