Mount Sugarloaf Lookout
Bit cloudy when we visited, would be great on a nice day. Sealed road all the way. Toilets and seating available. Would recommend.

Beautiful, good place to go for a BBQ, hiking or just to sight see, bbqs available, toilets plenty of seating, beautiful views. Well visited by locals and visitors alike, for adventurers who like 4x4 driving plenty of trails to drive for car and motorbike alike. Only down side toilets don't have soap or hand drier, Plenty of chances to take the perfect photograph, for novice to professional photographer alike. Well worth a visit.

Tip for accessing Mount Sugarloaf Lookout: when you get to the end of the road, it's just a car park. With a very limited view.Don't let that put you off. Walk up the steep street which is locked to vehicular traffic. It's only a ten minute walk to the lookout. When you get to the top, the trees have grown and block some of the view. But you still get excellent views to the east, towards Newcastle and south to Lake Macquarie.

One of my favourite places to bushwalking. The tracks are well signposted and there is a toilet there plus barbies and tables and chairs. The walk up the top is steep in parts but I did it a few years ago after a double knee replacement. Views are amazing and the rocks and flora are interesting.

Hidden Gem!! A very nice and leafy forest drive. The summit is just 10 mins(steep hike) walk from the car park.

looks east towards Newcastle from in front of the transmitters. If your are into 2 way radio a lot of ri up there so better off going south along the range road to receive a decent signal. There is also points along that road where you can view west towards Cessnock.Just below the transmitters is a picnic area with BBQ facilities wood fired from memory. It's a decent run up so make sure your thermostat is functioning correctly on a hot day. And remember radio peeps 5/35 on UHF and 9 on 27mhz are government allocated emergency frequencies DO NOT transmit here unless your leg is hanging off.

Really nice lookout. Steep hill to fet to the top, however well worth it. If you go at dusk, take something fie the mozzies.

Newcastle’s highest vantage point looking mostly back out to the eastern coastline; not accessible with a wheelchair and a short 5 minute walk up the stairs to the point.Car parking is free and the picnic tables have deteriorated immensely therefore bring your own furniture.
