Oakley Dam Swimming Hole
One of my go to happy places. I've noticed some reviews/comments that I need to respond to. There are toilets to the left of the carpark, you just need to walk up the path a bit to see the building. Also there are picnic tables off the path to the toilet block, however, no rubbish bins so please remember to bring your own rubbish bag and take it with you when you leave.

Great scenery.Little spot. Not anywhere to sit around the water but epic view .Must be extremely careful walking along the wall.

Oakley Dam Swimming Hole
Would love to see this Swimming hole after a good dose of rain. Water wasn't quite inviting enough for us to swim today (june). Vast lookout over the monstros Alcoa mine... easy to get across and follow the small bush track to find the built lookout tower. Bit steep in places so little kids might find a tad difficult.

Oakley Dam is a favourite place of mine. It's beautiful & usually quiet. I've only ever had one leech on my foot while standing in the shallow section. There is a bit of rubbish that gets left behind which is a shame.

Oakley Dam Swimming Hole
Water level was very low, about 2 meters from the top of the wall, when I visited. Not much upkeep has happened for a while. The paths are overgrown, signage is non-existent/been ripped off the poles. Trash everywhere. Graffiti on every rock. Road in is pretty rough, even in a 4WD. The Alcoa site ruins the view and you can hear the constant noise. It has so much potential.

Water wasn’t very clear but could walk on the bridge for a quick look. Peaceful and quiet though. There’s a small trek to get around through the bush

Oakley Dam Swimming Hole
Awesome for a little day out, bring a paddle board or floats. Water is clean. May be some marsh flies so bring repellant. Parking area is very close. No toilets.

Oakley Dam Swimming Hole
First visit - easy to get to on dirt tracks with standard x-trail. Saw a couple of kangaroos on the drive out to this spot. No toilets. Several parking bays. The rock paths are currently a bit overgrown and very slippery due to a month of rain (July 2021) Also hail today! Didn't manage to get very far with 3 small children, however the water level is very high currently - almost covering the small footbridge that we crossed. Looking forward to visiting again when the rains have stopped. Gorgeous scenery.
