Really wanted to like this place but for $43 for these 2 very bland dishes I must have got them on a bad night. The chicken tagine had 3 chicken drumettes and some veggies in a watery bland sauce for $20. The lamb lovers had 1 lamb forequarter chop and lamb mince pieces not much bigger than a pea and rice for $23. The amount of actual edible lamb from this dish was minimal, as shown by the photo. To serve drumettes and forequarter chops for that $$ is definitely working the margins in their favour and surely times aren’t that tough?

Above and beyond customer service and excellent food! The Baked Tilapia is amazing with a side of pap(semolina) a pot of hot tea.The atmosphere is cozy, with a very pleasant interior, and very close to kangaroo point cliffs of you plan a stroll there afterwards.Perfect for a date!

Oh My Gosh this place is amazing!!! Everything was amazing but do yourself a favour and please try the fried chicken entree! It's crispy, fatty, tangy and with just enough spice to make it interesting! They only had 2 staff on but they were both incredibly lovely and very accommodating and my daughter who insisted on dancing in the middle of the restaurant. We sat outside on the side area and the ambience and decor really added to the experience. My partner and I both felt like we were on a vacation! Definitely give it a go!

Beautiful interior decor with lovely basket lanterns. The cassava fries ($7) were tasty while bacon plantain ($8) was bland. The beef stew ($20.90), goat soup ($24) and fish stew ($24) were all very tasty and had approx 2 ladles of soup in each bowl. We left feeling hungrier than when we first started, so if you eat like a bird, then this is the right place for you. I also recommend the Kalam Farik cocktail ($16), which was sweet and refreshing.

I have done Uber eats, take away and dine in. I'm a regular and I keep going back because of the whole experience. By my second visit, I felt as if I was going to see my family! They make you feel welcome and the vibe is just different. The food... That's something else. Straight from Africa to your plate! The spices, the authenticity of each dish is remarkable!!My favorite is the bacon wrapped plantain and the fried Talapia. Yummmm!I have brought friends and family who also have continued to return because of the quality, portion and value of the meals. The atmosphere is another whole vibe. The aesthetic is tribal and color, true African.Love it and will continue to recommend people!!! ❤

No joking this is one of the best place I've been in Brisbane! The food is INSANE, healthy, tasty and affordable. We had the whole fish (delicious), the cow feet soup (I love jelly thing so it was absolutely beautiful), fried eggplants, spicy brown lentils and the black plantain ( a sweet and savioury dish). All so so so good! The staff was really friendly and helpful.Highly recommended

Recommendation - Aseeda (to accompany your meal); Sancocho; Fried Tilapia; Boerewors; Salata Aswad; Everything on the menu is amazingWau Kitchen is an amazing restaurant run by a wonderful team. The food is very diverse and the team takes great effort to explain the origins of the dishes to its customers. Over the time it has been open, we have taken many different groups of friends and they have all loved the food and the vibe at Wau. On busy nights, it could take slightly longer for the food to get your table, but the wait is worth it. There's plenty of good drinks and music to keep one entertained in the meantime. Making a reservation is advisable as many nights can get a bit busy. Please take the initiative to visit, and you'll not leave disappointed.
