The receptionist are so rude they don’t even care to talk with lil respect. They give such an attitude look. I entered and was standing there as I do not want to disturb them so and the lady I think her name was Cass she was so rude and giving me looks and the old lady next to her as well. It changed my whole mood to zero. Please ask them to at least talk in a bit polite way. While i was sitting there and a guy was passing by as he finished and said thank you bye and they just give him a look and started chatting between themselves. I have never seem this kind of customer service before. Please be bit more respectful and polite if possible please.

Just completed my second surgical admission at Monash House. Unfortunately it does feel a little like cattle class. My appt time was 1:45. I eventually walked to theatre sometime after 5.My experience is mixed. The admission process was fine, and my admitting nurse was lovely. The theatre team were great, the anaesthetist is brilliant. Very caring. The ward experience less so. The overnight staff were absolutely brilliant. Caring, gentle, attentive - I cannot praise them enough. The day staff, not so much. Pleasant enough but not overly friendly. I was given no assistance beyond absolute essentials. Not supposed to bend, twist, exert etc., but I had to ask for my shoes on the floor. No offer of assistance. A perfunctory ‘do you need anything’, to get organized for discharge, but delivered in a manner that discouraged acceptance of same.Very sore from surgery, I was left to organize my clothes and pack my bags. Medication removed from the drawer first thing in the morning and just dumped on the top of the drawer. ‘You’re going home so they don’t need to be in the drawer - you can take whatever your normal medications are from there’.It was made very clear that they wanted me out ASAP. So, I’m 16 hours post op for a spinal implant & anaesthetic, I’ve had a ketamine infusion running overnight.Checked on every so often this morning, but only to see where I’m at in getting ready for discharge.Told I could walk downstairs on discharge, after a post-op episode of postural hypotension, I expressed concern. Was told ‘we can take you down in a wheelchair’. Ok, that would be good.I’m assuming she’s gone to get one, so I continue lying on my bed while I wait. Ten minutes later my assigned nurse comes back and says ‘what are you doing? We have to close the ward you know’No communication about the wheelchair. Yes, my nurse went and got one, but the message had not been passed along. When she asked her counterpart to assist getting me, the case and a bag downstairs she was told ‘ I have paperwork to do’.There were, maybe, 2 patients on the ward. I find the experience at Monash House, on the whole to be less than inviting. I certainly don’t want to go back as an inpatient.I’m sure my day/evening nurses meant no offense, but a friendly smile, and some care and concern for the little things would have made the experience positive. It was all just a little too proficient, a little too clinical.

Upon arrival I was greeted with a warm smile, very friendly reception staff, Paul and the surgical team are absolutely brilliant, very much people-people.They made me feel relaxed, safe and I knew from so many times before that I couldn't be in better hands.. Thank You to Paul and his entire team..After procedure care also warm and friendly.. coffee, biscuits & cheese.. nice way to wake up..The after care is truly just as important as the pre care..Theatre staff are so switched on and you can let any anxiety go, a quick chat and I just remember waking up, all over..

The reception staff really need to work on their attitude. I sat in reception with a friend having surgery and witnessed a lot of pretty rude interactions on the staffs part. I think they need to remember that the people they’re dealing with are having surgeries, waiting for friends or family underogoing surgery, or are lost and confused in the Monash complex. Some empathy and understanding would go a long way, I wasn’t impressed at all and wouldn’t recommend this hospital to anyone.

In my twenty years of experience in Melbourne, I have never witnessed such impolite medical professionals. They should replace the respective personnel. This is a culturally varied nation, so all cultures should be respected.

My 11th time at Monash House. As always, the pre op and theatre experience was extremely positive. This time the care upstairs in the overnight ward was brilliant also. Attentive, caring, friendly. The catering lady was fantastic. The food wasn’t bad previously, but this time I noticed improvements have been made. It’s funny how small things can make a difference. If you are struggling with chronic pain, and need help, go see Dr Paul Verrills. It isn’t always straightforward or easy to treat chronic pain, and a bit of trial and error is par for the course, but Paul never gives up. He will always keep working with you to improve your daily experience. I cannot thank you and your team enough Paul.
