Matthew and his team at Southern Cross were great in assisting us in our time of loss, people commented to me how beautiful the service was.

My beautiful dad past away 2 days before Christmas 2022, I contacted Southern Cross Funerals on the 23rd of December, and was comforted instantly by Matthew Kwoka, what he said to me in those crucial first moments of our deep loss made me feel like he was part of our loss, our family and our pain. From that moment he and his team were there for us from this moment on, and wow were they there for us is an understatement. Matt and his dedicated, beautiful staff never left our side for a moment. This team of passionate people worked on arranging my dads service all through Xmas on public holidays , while they themselves were on holidays, the fact it was Xmas made no difference to their commitment to us as a family and ensuring we were OK, not just with logistics but our emotional needs through this time were at the forefront of their minds. When I took my mum to meet with Matt, it was a public holiday and Matt went out of his way to meet with us, he actually initiated the meeting on a public holiday so we could have some comfort in knowing it was all being taken care of. For us this initial meeting to arrange my dads funeral was going to be nothing shy of devastating but we seriously left with sore cheeks from the laugher and a weight lifted of us from knowing the caring hands we were now in - our dad would have felt so relieved he was now in the hands of this beautiful group of people. The staff at Southern Cross Funerals are not just employees working for a company - they are passionate dedicated humans who honestly care about YOU and what you are going through. Rebecca & Jorja worked endlessly, while on leave themselves to put together the photos and music for us to show our dads life in pictures. We were all so blown away with the job they did and what they produced was so very special, words could never express how that part of our service meant so much to so many people - Thankyou so very very much. Dads farewell / service was made unique by these people at Southern Cross Funerals. This is the hardest time of my life losing my dad and my families, and we are just so grateful we had the privilege of Southern Cross Funerals honouring our dad and being a crucial part of our lives at this time. I have been very lucky to meet Matthew from Southern Cross Funerals. He officiated at my son's and husband's funerals and made each day so special. He goes above and beyond in caring with every detail attended to and making a very sad occasion memorable. He deserves five stars.

We recently lost my Mum Helen & we trusted Matthew & his team to take care of Mum & prepair her for her final journey. Right from the beginning when we contacted Southern Cross Funerals Matthew come in on a public holiday so we could complete the arrangements at a time that suited our family. Everything right from the beginning was made so much easier at this lowest time in our lives with the way Matthew advised us on what he believed with his vast experience was the important issues we needed to consider, he took care of all the things that mattered most to us, was able right from that first meeting to make us feel so at ease & made us feel so safe & comfortable that Mum would be taken care of. My Dad whom had been married to Mum for 56 years was left feeling relieved after I was able to convey all the important issues to my Dad from the Information Matthew provided.On the day of the funeral everything went smoothly the whole process at the Church & later af the Cemetery went so smoothly.Our family & friends commented on how well the day went, I personally thought I'd struggle a lot more but I was constantly reassured by Matthew which put me at ease. The costs given Matthews experience & guidance was very, very reasonably. I recently had Matthew help me arrange my partners funeral after a sudden tragic death and he was absolutely amazing. Matthew made myself and my family all feel completely at ease and ensured that everything ran as seamlessly as possible. Losing someone is extremely hard and debilitating. You can’t think straight and the best thing is to have someone step in and take away your worries and take control. I could not have asked for a more compassionate man than Matt to do this for us for the funeral for my brother. From the moment I contacted him when we knew my brother didnt have long to live Matt was a blessing even checking in on us after the funeral. Matt stepped in and took all our worries away. I felt like I knew him forever and it felt like organising a funeral with family. When my young nephews were distraught just before the funeral began, Matt sat on the floor in front of them to comfort them. That is something that I will never forget. I have sadly had to organise a lot of funerals lately but this is my first with Southern Cross. Their service does not compare to any other. I can not recommend them enough. When my friends mother passed away recently we contacted three services out of hours. Only one bothered to return my call and I am so pleased that Matthew personally led the family through the difficult process of farewelling a beautiful lady who was loved by many.Matt and the Southern Cross Funeral Directors team are - by far - the most supportive, personal and honest service to deal with. I couldn’t think of a more caring, attention to detail, supportive company. As someone who is in the funeral industry I can confidently say Southern Cross is the best there is. Matt took care of my Nan with so much love and care, he made the entire process so much easier during such a hard time. I am forever grateful I got to give my nan the best send off with the support of Matt and the team at Southern Cross. Every mourner commented on how perfectly beautiful the service was and I couldn’t be more thankful that I chose Southern Cross.

What a professional, kind, understanding Funeral Service we had. All the team but in particular Matthew could not do enough for us. He came out of hours at a time to suit us to discuss all the details, offered considered and beneficial advice. On the day the team were respectful and just made a very difficult time a more manageable one. We had another company in February 2022 for my dad and by far Southern Cross Team were more on the ball, the service went to plan and I even got a shock when the bill arrived as it was half what we had paid the other company. I would not hesitate to use them again or indeed highly recommend them to anyone. Although it was a very sad day, due to the expertise of Southern Cross Team it made it much more bearable.
