Montezuma's Mexican Restaurant & Bar
What a little gem Montezuma’s is. Food was excellent, authentic Mexican. There was only one guy working front of house and he was a machine. Nothing was missed, so efficient and nothing a hassles. Mexican with a young kiddo was messy, but as much as we tried to clean up the mess he was more than insistent on us leaving it, yet he was still the only one on the floor. True hospitality, like you’re having dinner at a mates that you feel too comfortable around. We will be back.

Dinner on Saturday night. Made a booking online but the restaurant never received it so be careful when making the booking. Got told we can sit anywhere we like but 10 minutes later were told to move as they had that table reserved for another group. Sat waiting for someone to take our order for 10 mins or even acknowledge us. Once ordered, meals took 35-40 minutes to come out. Ordered a starter and main but all came out at the same time which is super annoying. Meals were nice but the overall experience could be much better.

Absolutely not what it once was. The servers are lovely but totally not trained properly.The food would be disappointing if you got it as an uber eats. As dine-in it is more so. Very sad to say this as I have many happy memories. The space is still beautiful though.

Montezuma's Mexican Restaurant & Bar
They turn what is basically street food into a dining experience at reasonable prices. The food selection is delicious and varied, but you may find yourself sticking with favourites.Service is great. Ambiance is very nice.The only complaint, petty though it is, was that the seats are HARDThis place is a tradition in Glenelg, and deservedly so.

Coming from Cali so high standards on Mexican. The place wasn’t too bad but they had a weird salad on everything with broccoli and carrots etc. which doesn’t mix well with Mexican flavors. Beyond that it just wasn’t very flavorful. It had no heat so I ordered the habanero sauce but that was extreme heat with no flavor. A good hot sauce should have a balance of flavor and heat.

In the past this place has been quite a pleasant quick meal spot with good atmosphere. The atmosphere is still good but both dishes were wet. For my Nachos it did not matter too much but it made the Tacos challenging to eat and unappealing. The pic shows the filling litterally leaking out the soggy bottom of the taco shell. Hopefully this place bounces back.

We had a very poor experience at this venue, food was terrible, we ordered queso fundido and all you can taste was cream cheese, the enchilada came with rice and they put it in the oven so the rice comes all dry, the cheese on top of the ingredientes it’s not melted and the portion sizes are very small for the price they charge. Additionally we ordered one passion fruit margarita and couldn’t taste the alcohol or the passion fruit. It is a shame that their food game is that poor because they have a very nice venue, with great decoration, atmosphere and table service. We are from a Latino back ground and this is a long way to be close to Mexican food specially traditional medican food, no even close to Texmex.

Very impressed! We got the chicken enchiladas (pictured), pulled pork enchiladas and queso dip. Wouldn’t recommend the queso dip as it mostly tasted like sour cream, but were impressed with the main dishes. The best Mexican we have found since coming to South Australia. If you’re looking for some extra heat and spice, add on a side of the habanero hot sauce ($3). Great authentic looking decor and music. We’ll be back!

Food was good once we got it. We waited over 45 minutes for the first of our orders to come. The restaurant wasn’t busy yet we waited 45 minutes before we were even served and then it was because we called the waiter over to us. One water bottle was brought out for 14 of us with 5 glasses. We had to ask for more water for the others as well as 9 more glasses. Tables were very sticky. There were multiple signs up stating that kids eat free mon-Thursday yet all 6 kids were charged in full for their meals until I pointed it out to the parents that kids are meant to be free. Nice decor & atmosphere but it’s really not worth going here when the wait to be served and the wait to receive meals is so incredibly long.The above review was from February 2021Revisit September 2021, a nicer experience with just two of us and we were served well and food was good.
