Unfortunately, had to give my first and worst experience for their outrageous customer service I have never had.Three staff, including the one who claimed to be a supervisor were arrogant, rude, not welcoming, ridiculously unprofessional and not helpful.I had my Full Tassie Driver License for three years when I was about to pick up the car. I was out of time while waiting. The staff assumed that I was P driver as my license titled. But there were clear amendments on the card because I renewed my license early before it went expired. I never ever had same situation with all the other Rental Car Company, Thrifty, Hertz, Budget and the Police as they can read English. The license was legit legal. They did not even bothered to figure it out by reading or checking even I said, ‘Please read. Can you read?’ Also accused me being rude to them and teamed up to bully me.Had to make a phone call, the customer representative on the phone was lovely and willing to help. After heard what happened and she was happy to rent a car while I already missed my next trip due to the delay of pick up. Meanwhile, after the staff on site found out that they made a mistake, they did not even try to apologize and not only lied to their colleagues on the phone accusing my frustration as irrational also refused to rent the car to me. And they said, ‘You can make a complaint’ when I asked for their names and kept asking me to calm down. It was so insulting and whatsoever with their attitude from the very beginning.Call centre service was great but the black sheep on site are definitely ruining the image of the company.

So I have had to put a 500 dollar deposit down for a car and then made payments to hire the car witch made it 750 I have called them and to find out about my payments that are pending. They said it has been through to my bank. It’s been over 14 days and I still have not received the funds back. I think there is a scammer amongst employees that are taking everybody’s details and stealing their money. I was told that I didn’t pay for the week’s car hire. I will the security deposit bond.So therefore, I’m just going to write put a security deposit down for a car and then walk the rest of the way. No I had to pay for the car hire somehow so there’s a scammer it’s just not enoughBest of luck, don’t make the same mistake other people have take care

Similar to the review below this one, I also had a horrible customer experience on the 26th of Dec 2022 with a similar staff member at Hobart airport Avis, trying to use the corporate discount.The attendant was rude, implied that I was trying to take advantage of the system, and refused to give me a car even though I had booked it online with no issue.This is the last time I go to Hobart and use Avis.

What a shambles! Had pre-booked a car through my travel club for 13 days at just over $1400 to pick up on Dec 18th. When we went to collect we were told this was a 'black out' period and they added a few thousand dollars to the cost.We called the Avis office and they confirmed the booking, but the staff would not budge. There was no manager on-site and we could not speak to a manager.Hertz were able to assist us, as we were not paying thousands of dollars extra for a car we had a confirmed booking for.This also happened to the man next to us, so looks like a common practice at this rental place. Be aware and stay away.

We had a great experience with Avis from the moment we picked up through till the moment we dropped off. Stuff were very happy and explained all our options in terms of excess payments and even about what we needed to know before going to Bruny Island. Drop off was easy too.

DO NOT Upgrade a rental car if they offer.I booked a Toyota camry and the car wasn't available when I pick it up. So they offered Toyota Rav4 for $5 per day for 7 days. I expected $5 * 7 days = $35 extra, but they charged $115.77. They didn't explain the hidden cost of the upgrade.

If you’re reading this while at the Hobart Airport and deciding on which car rental service to use, do yourself a favour and turn left towards the other car rental companies.Even though I get to enjoy corporate benefits on Avis, I would think twice about ever using them again.As an Avis Preferred customer, I arrived at the Avis Preferred lane only to have the front desk officer (Bruno) be on the phone and asked I be attended by another officer, who was not only rude, aggressive, poor at her job but also racist. It was the worst customer experience I’ve ever encountered in my life. She was too ashamed to give me her name despite feeling so confident that she was in the right so I’m not able to name her. She was working on the morning of 26 December 2022. (It was not Bruno nor the lady wearing spectacles.)Her attitude was bad from the onset — impatient and obnoxious. It was my first time using car rental service and I was trying to clarify the term “excess” that I will be charged for, which she explained 3 times, the exact same way all 3 times and admitted she didn’t know how else to explain it to help me understand it. At this point, she became exasperated when I expressed that I still couldn’t comprehend her explanation, hence I requested to be serviced by someone else who would be able to do a better job explaining it to me. After all, if I’m being charged for something, I would like to know what it is.While waiting to be serviced by another officer, she suddenly turned aggressive and proceeds to call my family racist. She even threatened to call security on us. We were caught off guard and were rudely shocked by the behaviour she had portrayed.Bruno finally steps in to service me and indeed does a better job altogether.All in all, Avis doesn’t train their staff well as none of them knew the benefits of “Avis Preferred”, not even their manager Joseph, who implied that my corporate benefits are not allowed to be used for leisure purposes (because the discount is too good apparently), despite it being clearly stated on my company’s website (which I showed them), that I can.I called up their customer service to submit a formal complaint and was connected with another manager (Graham) stationed at the Avis Hobart Airport branch who was less than empathetic about my ordeal and merely offered an empty apology.So there you go. If you want to avoid a bad experience, don’t use Avis. Never use Avis.

DO NOT USE!!! A hundred percent dishonest company. Charged us a fake fuel service fee when we returned the vehicle fully filled up. Their staff somehow made up a fake report says that we returned the vehicle with 5/8 tank whereas we filled it at the BP that's just less than 2 km away. I've used so many vehicle rental companies, they are the first one that comes up with a brilliant idea of making benefits by charging fake service fees. Shame on you! Definitely not recommended. If you do have no choice but renting from them, make sure you save as much evidence as possible.
