St. Basil's Randwick

Great environment, clean with friendly staff and loads of natural light

This is a new facility and is already on its way towards setting a high standard for nursing homes in Australia.However, since my original review, many problems have arisen with the management of the facility. The facility has not been able to retain staff, many having left due to understaffing problems. Nurses have been insufficient and therefore have limited time to address individual resident needs. Some family members have reported that their relative has been left unattended for hours. Currently they are operating on a restricted basis and the Board seem to have recognised that the problems must be rectified or they will be forced to close by the Dept of Health.For those seeking a Greek-based cultural experience, unfortunately they will find that Greek speaking staff are limited to 4 or 5 and meals are not particularly Greek focussed. Meals are good, but are best described as Australian meat and three veg!

The apartment was immaculate. It is spacious and I loved the balcony and view.

Very poor communication, no one returns emails or calls, no information during COVID of loved ones, failed 26 out of 32 accreditation points.

Caring polite staff the rooms are big lots of light air conditioned clean and it does not smell of urine like some very spacious environments a d it has a coffee shop for residents staff and visitors

Awesome home for the Aged.

Very nice, however due to pandemic residents restricted. Medical response by phone only.

Please do your due diligence before sending your loved ones here. The reviews I don’t think are real but by the aged care facility itself. Google the CEO of St Basils Spiro Stavis and you will find he was guilty of corruption by ICAC along with Daryl McGuire in his previous employment. Also in 2021 St Basil’s Randwick failed 35 of the 43 accreditation requirements - this info is publicly available (Google it). They have a long history of negligence. I wish we’d known before we put our mother in this place. There were over 25 incidents of negligence in her 7 weeks there before her death.
