Meridian Cafe
Due to the massive bushfire that went through NSW on the summer of 2020, Murulan and surrounds got affected. My partner and I decided that one of the ways we can help the community is to visit and support local shops.THE PLACE - We found that Meridian Cafe was a Nice cozy place to have a short pit stop before exploring other areas. The wall is covered majority with dog photos, an occasional cat, rat (or rabbit) and a lizard (iguana ?). I think it's for fundraising. It is quite cute!THE FOOD & DRINK - we had the blackboard specials on the day and it was delish! The ice coffee was nice as well. Yes, we will revisit this place again in the future.FOR FUTURE VISITORS - Ditch the roadside services or McDonalds or KFC or Hungry Jacks. Go off the main highway, and sometimes you'll be really surprised what you will find.

Café by day, Indian restaurant by nightWell the Indian restaurant is no more, along with its quirky decor and walls of dog picturesAs a café it's still as good as you'd wish for on the road. Decent coffee, excellent hamburgers and toastiesGood toiletsAnd a big, welcoming smile from the staff(But the main door is automatic and quite sensitive, so it stays open a lot, and the chill Marulan wind whistles around the tables)

Loved it the way it was. Honest, charming and the pet photos were heartfelt. The current owners have tizzed it up and good luck to them but the menu is restricted and ordinary, the charm has gone. We will look elsewhere for country welcome.

Lovely cafe with good coffee & food. About half way between Sydney & Canberra. Lots of photos of dogs on all the walls.

Had a cappuccino - was decent, strong and lots of chockie! Also had a Meridian Roll WITH a scallop on it as standard; BBQ sauce. Bun was soft and sweet, egg was semisolid yolk and flat so no mess. Bacon was cooked but not overdone so plenty of flavour. Scallop was soft like a cloud inside, and crunchy on the outside. Honestly this was perfection - I made the perfect choice. The lovely lady serving was friendly, communicative and moved with German efficiency.Cafe is clean and has amazing carpet. I had no shoes on and it felt like a velvet doona. There is also a little gift wall, cakes, sandwiches, drinks; they even do SPIDERS! Lots of variety for one little place, and prices are absolutely excellent!Someone really loves this cute little cafe and I’m giving 5/5 without fear of contradiction.

After looking at the high rating, we decided to stop for breakfast yesterday on our way to Canberra from Sydney.. But the breakfast and overall experience was very ordinary. The Cafe was empty inside and the menu was nothing special. Although the place was almost empty, they forgot to bring my coffee with my scrambled egg and toast. I had to remind them to bring the coffee and hash brown as they have forgotten about it.. Now looking at all the reviews, they are mostly old reviews..

Look, there is nothing that is ‘wrong’ about this place. The menu is very plain, but it’s honest cafe food, and very inexpensive. The most disappointing thing about this place is that I first came here under the original owners, when they had all of the dog pictures on the walls. The food was very good, and it was a very memorable experience.I hadn’t realised that ownership had changed, as did the menu, so I was disappointed by that. However, like I said, it’s simple and honest food, and the lady that served us was lovely.

When you are in Marulan, get off the highway. It's a no brainer. Not only does one get rewarded by Meridian Cafe's wonderful and sumptuous fare, but one also gets to witness a charming little town with lovely people. My family and I visited here on our way to Canberra on a frigid morning. The coffee was excellent, brekkie was fresh, wholesome and delicious. The bacon and egg roll is a real winner. Generous portions with freshly made turkish bread. We stopped by here on our way back from Canberra as well.
