Sugarloaf Western Lookout & Carpark

Very quiet and beautiful place. Enough car parking. Has 2 picnic tables. Be aware the gates are automatically closes at specific times. So don't get locked out. Nice and clean water but no swimming allowed.

Nice but relatively small area. It has benches for picnic and public toilet. Nice view over the reservoir.

Sugarloaf Reservoir is one of the larger, newer water reservoirs supplying Melbourne with drinking water. Opened in 1981 it's been landscaped and has several spots where you can stop for views and picnics or BBQs, although solid fuel BBQs are prohibited. Toilets and picnic tables and benches are available. Plenty of parking, green grass and shady trees. This is one of the very few reservoirs in Australia where you can actually access the water, fishing with lures is allowed from the shoreline only, no bait, burley etc is allowed. Normal inland waters fishing rules, limits and permits apply. Be aware the entrance automatically closes at designated times, which vary depending on the time of year, so don't get locked in!

First time I have seen Sugarloaf at full capacity. Great spot for a picnic. Having worked on the construction of this project, am disappointed as to the lack of maintenance by Melbourne Water. Weeds everywhere, typical lack of funding by the State Government, we pay our Parks Victoria fees in our water bill, not seeing where that goes. Still a nice place to visit.

Very quick visit to check it out. Beautiful outlook. Picnic area and public toilets. Good place to walk also

The Lookout spot is only good for viewing the water treatment plant. No clear view of the Reservoir. Great for a quick afternoon drive.

Very nice place but a bit run down, needs better maintenance.

A nice place for some walk

Love this place, park the car and walk in the bush with fantastic views all around.
