About 2 years ago I heard backyard buyers advertised on 3AW and thought what a great idea so when the covenant come off our property that we could subdivide we contacted backyard buyers and spoke to Kathy Right from the beginning we were so impressed with Kathy that we decided to go ahead Kathy made the process so easy for us I’m sure it was lots of work for her in this day and age it’s very hard to put your trust into anybody but we had 100% faith in Kathy and she come good we now have two titles to our land and could not have done it without her We really wanted to stay this area and downsize to a smaller house so this suited us perfectly we are now ready to build our dream home thanks to backyard buyers

When we bought this century old heritage house we knew it’s in an almost unliveable state but we loved the location, the character and the potential for a big overhaul. We had a vision to renovate the house in a way that is contemporary in its design and practical in its amenities. There was only one problem. We did not have any previous experience in such projects, particularly this one where we had to keep the exterior of the house intact and the amount of extension we could do was restricted due to council regulation by heritage overlay regulations. And personally we wanted to keep some of the old features of the house.A huge burden was taken off our minds and shoulders when we met Kathy and got Backyard Buyers on board. From that point on we had the reassurance that our project is in capable hands and as we progressed with the planning we started to get more and more peace of mind. Not because it was smooth sailing, but due to the fact that Kathy had all the expertise and troubleshooting skills to manage this project within our timeframe and budget, despite huge hiccups like Covid lockdown. I think without Backyard Buyers we simply could not do this. Their reliability, honesty and commitment is second to none. Many people had their doubts about how we’re going to end up with this challenging project on our hands. Now with this review I’m letting the secret to our success out!

If you have ever thought about building in your backyard I would highly recommend it. I did with Backyard Buyers and because Kathy managed the project from the initial planning stage right through to the handing over of keys I did not have to worry about a thing. Kathy oversees all the plans, permits, trades and everything else involved in the process. All I had to do was choose what I wanted, where I wanted it and the rest was professionally and efficiently organised by Kathy.I did not have to sell my backyard and with Kathys expertise I now have an investment in my backyard instead of lots of grass to mow and weeding to be done. When we started planning for renovation extension of our house we knew it’s going to be a challenging project with lots of complexities.we had a hundred year old house with heritage overlay, under the watchful eyes of the council and the neighbourhood, with lots of unknowns about its infrastructure, and our ambition was to give it a revamp as contemporary as possible, while preserving the charm and identity of the old house. What we did not know was the fact that a neighbour will lodge an objection to our council-approved and fully compliant plans, that the Covid lockdown will heavily restrict our build process, plus the poor quality of the restoration and repair that had been done in the house over the years.But we pulled off this project successfully, and a huge part of it is owed to having Backyard Buyers and its director, Kathy as our project manager. Without Backyard Buyers it was simply impossible to finish this project within our timeframe and budget, with this quality and design. People were thinking this project at this scale is going to take a year or so to finish. But we started the build process in June and got the keys just in time for Christmas. And people’s guesses about the cost when they see the house is usually close to twice as much as what we spent.Kathy kept going over and above in every step of the project. She dedicated so much of her time being present on site to supervise tradies. She lined up tried and tested subcontractors who were always cost-effective, came up with makeshift solutions and Plan Bs time and again, made sure every piece of work is done properly and held people responsible with her unassuming authority when things occasionally went wrong. At the start Backyard Buyers provided us with a stage by stage build plan, and even multiple lockdowns could not hinder our progress. Backyard Buyers was essentially the X factor and trump card of our project.It’s going to be very hard to find a house in Melbourne where classic and modern have been blended together this harmoniously. Every passerby is impressed. The added value to the house has been significant and it’s been a great joy to live in the house in the past couple of months. We can’t thank Kathy enough for the excellent job she and her team have done for us. For anyone wanting a seamless build project, it would be a no-brainer to have Backyard Buyers on board. I doubt you’ll find anyone with this much skills, dedication and integrity. On our part, we look forward to working with them again in near future in our next adventure.
