Sad to see so little water in the billabongs in the riverbed, after the good rains received upstream this year - the Murray-Darling Basin Protection scheme is not working as it needs to.

We had lunch in the park and then a walk along the bank.

Darling River at Wilcannia is definitely worth stopping as it has some old buildings a small supermarket and a new playground for children right next to Darling River. It has a BBQ and sheltered bench and seats with the toilets being under renovation. It has a historical bridge and had 222 steam boats steaming past at its peak in 1887.

A quick stop by the river in wilcannia to stretch your legs. However didn't stay long due to the missus feeling uncomfortable staying longer, after a large group of aboriginal women & kids knocked our car window begging for money. I'm pretty sure they didn't believe me when I said we didn't have any cash ....

A fine spot for viewing the appalling state of the inland rivers having been bled dry by cotton and rice growers. The shocking revelations of the rules that allow them to do it is a blight on NSW politicians. May the fleas of a thousand camels infest their hairy armpits!
