My favorite beach dive. Hey here two and a half hours before the high tide and enter either at the small beach or at the stairs that are punctuated by a hand rail. Getting in and out of the water is easy. Stick closer to the rock wall as there is many boats passing through the mouth of the Tweed River. Be sure to bring along a safety sausage and spool to mark your position if you are unsure of where you are surfacing to avoid being struck by a boat. Visibility is better in winter but can be hit and miss. Lots of fish to see. Mostly coffee rock but on a good day it's great to be in the water whether scuba or free diving.

Tweed River Shore Dives
While training to do my PADI Advanced Scuba Diver certificate I completed a couple of dives here and I have also been snorkling here a few times. It was heaps of fun doing drift diving along the rock wall using the tidal current to pull us along underwater. The tweed tiver is not as glamorous as the nearby Cook Island and Nine Mile Reef but it is right here and doesn't require a boat ride to access. I also did the fish identification module and was surprised how many I saw when I deliberately stopped to look. You can literally grab a snorkling mask and jump in, or use the stairs if you carrying all your scuba gear.

A bit murky on low tide, cleaner on high but watch out for the current. It's probably better to walk in from the little bay nearby.
