Despite having lived here for 15 years, was my first time at the venue. It has character, and the quality of the sound was amongst the best I've ever heard at a live show. Will definitely be coming back.

The Basement is everything you want in a gig venue. It's grungy, has great pub food (I had a Temple of the Dog), pool tables, and great staff (the guy who picks up the glasses is an awesome dude!). The one downside is that if you're not up the front when the band starts, you can't see much more than the bands' heads (see photo). It would be good if the stage was a little higher. That said, the sound was amazing! If I didn't live in Melbourne I'd be there more often! A++

Such a great venue for Live Music. Do yourself a favour and get there early to grab a Burger! Pleanty of after hours parking around the venue.

Always have fun at the Basement. Great bands, good sound, lovely staff.Would be great if there was more than one working female toilet though! Would have been five stars otherwise.

Rad night at the Beyond Salvation Angels gig. Beer was tops but the food took a while to come out... But hey... Hands down the best Dive Bar in the ACT

If you love heavy music or just music very cool and the midnight oil burger is cool sorry hot not that hot guitars hanging of the roof drums are the lights if your into music have or play in a band it's worth the stop

So much potential. Music was great but venue clearly needs work and /or better management. On both nights I’ve been there (NYE and another night in Jan 2023), bar staff were massively overwhelmed, On NYE they actually ran out white wine - at about 8pm! On the second occasion it was unbearably hot and the air con and fans werre not even on (random patrons turned them on). And please fix the floor - it’s sticky, which is a huge ick for me as my shoes now have gross ‘stuff’ on the soles. I’d like to go again but thinking twice tbh.

Great option for a night out in Canberra.Tasty meals with a good range of burgers. Band area packs a decent crowd with good acoustics. Whether you're wanting to rock out to a band or just hang out and shoot some pool with your mates The Basement delivers.
