The Black Sparrow

This property is the perfect place to relax and unwind. Gorgeous mountain views, cosy fireplace, a spa and a well equipped kitchen. Staff are lovely, Des the manager is so friendly and helpful, Stock up on groceries in Mansfield, or eat out at the local brewery.The view is spectacular, watch the kangaroos as they graze on the property, whilst enjoying a coffee on your own private deck, or through the large glass windows whilst you stay warm by the fire. Highly recommend!!

Had a nice two night stay at the weekend. The one bedroom chalet has all you need. A decent size living room, good bedroom and bathroom and small kitchen. Has a log fire as well as a split system heater/air conditioner. Great views of the lake and hills in the background from the balcony. Lovely peaceful spot with kangaroos on the property. A short drive into Jamieson, 20 minutes into Mansfield or a 10 minute walk down to the lake.

Booked 2 nights only stayed 1, possum or rats in the bedroom wall kept us awake from midnight. Was advertised as pet friendly, no lawn area, balcony fenced with wire string so sml dogs could get through, carpet in pet friendly room, wouldn't be my choice paid an extra $100 to have dogs who slept in the car. Spa/shower so climbing in and out was an effort....definitely not for 50+ . It was clean, warm once we found the opened windows but we've stayed in better in this region. Dirt /rough tracks to accommodation would have been nice to know about first.Not for us won't be returning and I wouldn't recommend for young families either.

Great views super clean ,friendly staff well equipped. with kitchen and wood heater also very quiet we stayed 2 nights mid week we will be back

Just spent 3 nights in a chalet. Place was cosy and warm and really enjoyed the fire. View was amazing and our dog had a lovely tie down at the river. Des the manager was fantastic and nothing too much trouble. Place was clean and tidy and well equipped. Loved our stay there

We went to the Black Sparrow Resort for a weekend as a big group to celebrate my husband’s milestone birthday. Had booked a few of the cottages and everyone commended how much they enjoyed the stunning location.The chalets had spectacular views of the mountains and a perfect romantic getaway; the 3-bedroom cottage and 2-bedroom cottages were spacious and comfortable with amazing views of the mountains. The kids enjoyed playing tennis and other games in the resort and having all the cottage close to each other was so convenient. The cottages were clean, self-contained and had an awesome spa to relax at the end of the day.The walking trails were perfect to enjoy the beautiful sunrise early morning amid the kangaroos and the birds.We received excellent customer service from the owner Jude who was very accommodating and went out of his way to make sure that we had a fantastic and memorable birthday celebration. In addition, he provided plenty of guidance about the surrounding areas and best places to visit.We highly recommend the Black Sparrow resort if anyone is celebrating an event with family and friends – a perfect gateway for a special occasion or a relaxed weekend away. We would definitely consider going back for another stay.

Lovely Place to Stay in the Midst of NatureThe rooms were clean, amenities were as promisedKids play area was great, adults enjoyed there tooThe swimming pool was the best the beat the heat andbut we had to do a little bit of cleaning before enteringwhich wasn't a major deal at all.Word of Caution - Do carry your own water bottles or cans, the water is notas clean as it should be.Overall - Loved the Stay

A tranquil getaway in a stunning location!We stayed here for two nights in one of the luxury chalets. The accommodation was clean and comfortable - we particularly enjoyed the fireplace and waking up to the gorgeous view from our balcony. We even got to see a group of 6 kangaroos having breakfast early one morning. The caretakers were lovely and introduced us to the goats and chickens and even gifted us some fresh hen eggs for our breakfast which were super tasty. The kitchen is well equipped and there is a bbq on the balcony which worked well. The location is about 1 hour from the top of buller which is great for skiers or mountain bike riders.The accommodation itself is a little bit dated and the bed was a bit too firm for my liking but overall we had a very pleasant stay and we are looking forward to returning!

We loved our stay, thank you. Property and surroundings are beautiful. Dog friendly and 1 bedroom chalet we stayed in was very clean, had everything we needed and bed was comfy. Loved hanging out the deck and the small hike to the sparrow summit was wonderful. Only wish was we had stayed longer ☺️

We stayed for 2 nights at one of the chalets in The Black Sparrow for our anniversary weekend. We absolutely loved the view of the lake Eildon from the spacious balcony, the house has a fully equipped kitchen, bedroom, hall and balcony with bbq. Another highlight of the relaxed stay was the indoor spa.
