Dormie House
The staff were friendly and helpful, but there weren't enough. Service at the bar, at breakfast, and checking out was slow. The rooms are okay. They are tired and need some refurbishment. My room did not have a plug in the basin. The location is great for golf, and a 1.2 km walk into town.

Rooms were very outdated. Beds uncomfortable. Not very good heating. Bathroom really old and leaking tap. Very small room. No room to move.

The room was a shoebox , no air-conditioning or fan available, 24 degrees night , windows rattled , security light external to the window on all night , blind not adequate to stop light , mould on the ceiling in the shower area. Very uncomfortable night . The picture is at 2 in the morning with the window beside the bed .

Dormie House has a nice, rustic feel to it when you walk in, but the charm sadly doesn't last very long. While the staff were an absolute pleasure and the restaurant served some wonderful food, the room was definitely feeling its age. I do understand there is a refurbishment process in place, which is definitely good news for an otherwise lovely venue. We had a deluxe double room on the ground floor, but the bed bases (two singles pushed together) were very old, discoloured, and misshapen (sloping down on one side). Luckily, the mattress was firm enough that it wasn't too noticeable, but it was definitely jarring to look at upon walking in. The room and linens were nice and clean, although the carpet was quite weathered and it was hard to tell if it was just age or dust discolouring the edges. Either way, I didn't feel very comfortable removing my shoes. The bathroom was small but functional with nice hot water, but the shower would occasionally just start expelling water for about 30s to 1min at random intervals (maybe once every hour or two). The only window in our room also directly faced the dining room/restaurant, so we couldn't leave the blind up and let in any natural light unless we were okay with strangers being able to see right into our room. All in all, we only needed it for one night, so it was fine. However, I wouldn't stay longer than that. I am sure, after it is refurbished, it will be absolutely lovely!

As many write, some rooms are refurbished some are ‘original’. The beds are comfy in the original rooms but otherwise yes carpet desperately needs replacing etc. The main issue though is that you can hear the occupants above you so your sleep is destroyed. Such a pity as otherwise whisper quiet. Dinner & breakfast were excellent so maybe that side of things has been resolved. It’s great as a golf stay - just insist on renovated room upstairs.

For the price you pay to stay the rooms are very old and outdated, Smelly and not very comfortable to sleep. The hotel needs a big update, and if you get a room downstairs, you can hear people walking all night upstairs, very noisy

The bathrooms were small and doors did not close properly. The old carpet made the room smell weird. The spoons in the rooms for mixing tea weren't cleaned properly. The only heating available was a small wired heater. If you stay on the ground level, you can hear people above walking. The staff at the cafe were impolite and not very helpful. They make coffee in the morning so we had to go to golf shop next door and use the coffee machine which did not work properly and also did not have the correct lid sizes for the cups.

Not a pleasant experienceMy partner and I spent just one night at Dormie House and that was enough and wished we had researched prior to booking what we subsequently learned were very accurate previous low star reviews. The carpet is revolting and very dirty with large stains, and the rooms are very very tired, and our toilet plumbing was out of order but had no one to call and heating is non-existent The location is poor and out of town and their restaurant was closed and whilst they state in their brochures breakfast is available, the kitchen was deserted at 7.30 am so you need a car to drive into Moss Vale for a bite to eat. I am not sure if the kitchen operates at any time although we were advised it was closed Monday and Tuesday for dinner. We arrived back from dinner at about 8.30 and the place was completely closed for the night. Everything was shut and the lighting was just adequate to save money we guessed. I am not sure how they are retaining their licence as to the best of our knowledge no staff were on duty at night so guests (all three of us I think) were left alone in a large decrepit old house We cannot really comment on the staff as the receptionist also acts as bartender and we did not see anyone else at all during our stayWe could see no signs of renovation as stated by management in previous review responses and had renovations been undertaken why not accommodate us in a refurbished room? From our brief time there it seems it has not had an update for many years. We travel regularly and our expectations are not 5 stars, but this place is the very worst we have ever stayed at. Had we booked more than one night we would have checked out early. Their website photos are touched up or taken a long time ago.

The staff are a real asset at Dormie House. Nothing was a problem for them and everyone went above and beyond to ensure our stay was as stress free and relaxed as possible. There is a new chef and his meals were to die for. The renovations are progressing well and even the older style rooms were spotlessly clean and very comfortable.

The rooms were overpriced for what you get. Very cold, you can hear everything through the walls and ceiling as i was on the ground floor! Some staff were lovely while others didnt seem to care.On the other hand, they did a nice job catering for my grandmothers funeral.
