Babinda, more than meets the eye.Home to Bartle Frere ever eternal companion on the skyline , this sleepy town with cane train crossings and ancient cane farmers hobbling along with generations of earth on their boots holds another secret - babinda boulders.Spend a day there, don't rush it. Take some footwear for a paddle and a snorkel. The main area is safe to paddle or swim.A stone's throw down the river are the devils pools , archetypical of the Australian landscape - beautiful but deadly. Follow the signs, feel free to explore but use your brains. Under no circumstances climb on the wet rocks or walk with wet shoes/ feet on the smooth stone - they become slippery instantly.I urge you seriously to follow the signage.Second death here in 12 months - FOLLOW THE SIGNS.

Brilliant spot. Crystal-clear blue/green water. A little cool at this time of year, but it cuts down on the coffee expenses!

Nice spot for swimming, good facility. Around an hour from Cairns. Worth to go if you go the water falls circuit.
