This review is a plea from a loyal customer to the managerial staff at the Tocky to put some effort into consistency. This is our local pub and we eat here at least 2-3x/month. One of my go-to orders is the Ancient Grains bowl - love that they have some healthier options on the menu! The problem is the Ancient Grains bowl is different every time. Sometimes the base is mostly spinach and sometimes it’s mostly grains. Sometimes the tomatoes are chopped and sometimes they are whole. Sometimes they forget the pomegranate seeds or the pistachios. Sometimes they drown it in dressing and sometimes the dressing is left off completely. Sometimes it’s all mixed together like a chopped salad and sometimes the toppings are just thrown on top in huge chunks that are hard to chew. In short - sometimes it’s delicious and sometimes it leaves a lot to be desired. This is just one example, we’ve noticed consistency issues with other menu items as well.My theory is that they don’t actually provide their kitchen staff with recipes and instead give whichever rotating working holiday maker that is on roster that day a copy of the menu, and let them interpret it however they may.Small details matter and make the difference between a satisfying meal and a disappointing one.P.S. Please bring back salmon as a protein option for your bowls.

Was Pretty disappointed with the steak. Sides were pathetic. Drinks are usually pretty cheap though. They have specials on different nights so make sure you only eat on those nights.

Big place. Pretty good drink selection. Food is very tasty but on the expensive side.I had the popcorn cauliflower and enjoyed it. The halloumi fries were a bit soggy.Steaks looked amazing.

A large and very popular pub with lots of different spaces to eat in. Polite, informative and hard working staff. We had the steak which was cooked to perfection and the gyros with Greek flavoured lamb and warm soft pita. Delicious!Definitely recommend The Toxteth for any meal including family kids meals. My only negative is that dogs are allowed in all the spaces, even the carpeted room, hence 4 stars instead of 5.

Great atmosphere with clean, modern decor. Food options are typical for a pub - tasty enough but mostly all are fried & bulked up with a large serve of fries. Side salads were lacking variety & could do with chef made dressings.

Too bad the kitchen under renovation so food selection pretty limited. Burger was good, chips crispy & tasty. Chicken parma too burnt, chicken wings too spicy. It was too crowded during our visit, can't really enjoy the night.

The worst part of our visit was the service, particularly from the guy with the nose ring (found out his name was Nick from his colleagues after he refused to give me his name). He was rude to everyone and totally dismissive. Should remove him ASAP.Over 1 hour for food and the place was quiet!! Cold steak and chips, orders forgotten (half our table had finished before some of the starters came out. bangers & mash and chicken Parmigiana just didn’t turn up).In short, just avoid and go somewhere nice nearby!

First time in a while I visited here and the food was fantastic. I ordered the popcorn cauliflower and two cheese risotto. Both very good. This pub also has a large menu with all the classics plus plenty of vego/vegan options.

Very pleasant environment for a group of old friends to hang out. Clean for a pub. The food had a relatively high menu price, but their portions are huge. Our group had a steak sandwich, chicken parmi, fried cauliflower, chips, and fried halloumi. They are all very tasty pub fare and very generous in their portion. We will definitely be back.

Great food, never disappoints. Got the kids bolognaise, garlic bread, and rump steak with mash and veggies. My youngest wanted steak so we are sharing this together. Lovely atmosphere on a Sunday with a live guitarist singing. Nice pub with modern decor. There is free street parking nearby. Highly recommend to other families.
