There is so much competition in Balmain! There are a variety of places for someone who is a fan of coffee, and good coffee. I can see for a number of reasons why Kafeine is one of the most popular cafes in Balmain, they know what they're doing.Not only is the coffee component good, but as there is numerous competing cafes in Balmain, it's also a big part on the service provided by these cafes, which draws me in (or also others as there is choice.)It doesn't matter if it's 6:30am, or rush hour on a Sunday brunch, you walk in and feel welcomed, they are organised, quick and efficient, always. I appreciate that.I've probably tried nearly every cafes coffee in Balmain, and arguably they make some of the best, it's consistently very good.I have eaten there a bunch of times and the food, smoothies and juices off the menu are great!Recommend! Great team, lovely people.

Great food and coffee. Spicy food was just that, spicy but that’s great if you like a bit of heat. Inside can get a little noisy if busy.

Kafeine is good - and good is an accurate word to describe this place.Short version: Would I come back here? Yes, I have multiple times. For what reason? The food selection is massive, and the food quality is decent. It’s a yummy place to have lunch.Would I choose this place to have coffee, exclusively? No.The long versionMenu selection: extensive, wide, grand. There is something for everyone, and what is most impressive, that there are numerous gluten-free items. If you feel like breakfast, brunch or lunch food, you will find it on this menu. May I also point out that the drinks menu is AMAZING!Quality of food: Good, expected, nice. I have eaten here numerous times (5+) and the food is consistent. It is interesting, it tastes good, its cooked well. The dressings on the salad are a decent amount so you’re not left with dry bits of lettuce. The portions of protein are decent.Price: Decent - actually, very good considering they have so many proteins available. You can spend anywhere between $13 and $28. Averaged priced items. I’ve seen cafes with ‘bowls’ for $30 which is absurd. Not this place - ‘bowls’ are like $24 to $28 depending on your protein choice.Service: decent. I have actually had two times where something slipped up - my drink was given to another table. I had to call an assistant to help which took a while because they’re were so busy. Also, they’ve tried to serve our table food which wasnt ours. So I guess they’re in a rush.Coffee: Average. Some days the coffee is burnt, or pulled incorrectly. The milk can be burnt some days. Expect inconsistency in terms of their coffee.Atmosphere: nice cafe, nice chairs. However, you can tell they’ve tried to squish as many as can be in that space, and it does get very busy, crowded, packed. Nice natural lighting comes in from the street. The atmosphere is nice.Parking: street parking on Darling Street. Can be hard to find, but for me, this cafe and its food selection and quality of food is worth it.

Came from Melbourne and didn’t really know many places to eat breakfast for the next two days. Found this place, and the service was incredibly fast, the staff were friendly, the food was amazing and the presentation was top notch. After we had breakfast the first day, we can again as a family the next two days. DEFINITELY recommend this place for anyone staying in the city, it is a 13 minute drive away. And I recommend the Mushroom good ness and the breakfast pan!! Wish this cafe was in Melbourne as well.

Wow! Perfectly run business!Today is Saturday and raining so for breakfast it’s packed with others waiting outside for a table.My coffee came within minutes and the food looked delicious.Wait team are happy and friendly and love their job.Thank you for always delivering the same standard each time I visit

Great food, nice staff and quick service.It’s one of our favourite breakfast places in Balmain. You might sit at a communal table which I personally like. Especially when you can sit next to each other. It does get very busy and it’s a very noisy place.We had the corn fritters and something with the green eggs. A bit different what we normally have in other paces; very tasty!If you’re into ice coffee, try the special cold brew tonic.

Went here yesterday! Very cosy and friendly staff. The interior is nice, we sat in the back on the higher table. Plenty of room and you can sit on outside.The food is delicious! (See picture) and the portions are enough.There is a big variety on the menu.Although a bit pricey! Two milkshakes and two breakfasts were $55, I’ve eaten the same for less.But good place if you’re in the neighborhood.
