Best fish and chips we've had in a long time. Don't expect a big choice. Only fish they had was flake when we were there. Beautifully cooked fish, chips and potatoe cakes. Tartare sauce and lemon thrown in.

With only one takeaway joint in a town, the food better be good - Port Welshpool General Store didn't disappoint! We got takeaway twice over our 3 days here. Burgers were so good! Loved the Southern Fried Chicken Burger, which was juicy and crispy. The double jetty burger had so much meat in it! Chips are great too. Fish and chips are good and amazing value at $10. If you're in a rush, make sure you call to order in advance. We waited about 20-25mins as it's the busiest time of year. Time passed quickly as there was a nest of baby swallows to watch in the roof...so cute!

We loved the food from this store. We ordered a seafood platter for two and were surprised by the generous amount and it was very nice. Excellent friendly service and would highly recommend.

Don’t know why this place doesn’t have 5stars across the board. I would give 10 stars if I could. The food is PHENOMENAL and staff are so lovely. Everything on the menu is cooked perfectly and so so tasty and also very affordable. Just had my first “Welshpool burger” and I’m still drooling…

The Welshpool burgers are by far the best takeaway burgers we've had. Today we travelled an hour just for them. The size and price is unmatched.

After seeing previous posts I was pretty excited but unfortunately it wasn't to be. I specifically asked the lady if it was gummy and she blatantly lied to me. People aren't stupid, be honest and it will go along way. You had no chips left, no big deal, even though it was midday. The fish was ok, not sure what it was, posibblly grenadier, the fact she lied to me, will never return. Not good enough. Head to Port Albert or Venus bay for local gummy and honesty.

Definitely worth the wait.The only food shop in the area and it was packed.... But the quality was well worth the wait. Perfectly battered fish and delicious chips. Some of the best fish and chips in Victoria.Sure the efficiency could be better to keep customers informed but the owners work hard and a happy to help.

The only place in Port Welshpool to buy anything.Did a great job on a very busy Sunday afternoon. Fish & chips for $10.00 suited me. There were other food offerings as well.It's a General Store, nothing more.
