Dear Deer Dumpling
Have been looking to try this restaurant for a while now but held off because I didn’t realise they had the upstairs dining area. Downstairs is a bit small and outside has been too wet recently. So pleased to have tried them. Shared some dumplings and rice with my husband and it was all just delicious. The prawn dumplings were fresh and flavoursome as were the pork with their burst of broth. The fried rice was delicious. Finished with a large pot of jasmine tea. All was very reasonably priced and a lovely dining room. Staff were efficient and friendly. Will definitely return to try more of the delicious dumplings

The best and most genuine Chinese flavours in Sydney. Seriously.. has been my go to, whilst not been able to go to China. The best dumplings. I love this place. The owner Bing Leung or Cold Ice is the warmest nicest guy who just wants to create the best flavoured Chinese food in Australia. I suspect he has already achieved this dream. I will be back, again and again. Love Love Love

I was quite disappointed with the service and quality of food received from this 6 months old dumpling restaurant. We waited more than 40 minutes for our 1st dish to arrive. I understand that it's a Saturday so it was relatively busy with just a skeleton staff but when I ask about the status of the food, the waitress on the floor went to check our order but did not say or feel sorry for our wait. The first dish we received was the deep fried mini buns, they were not as crispy as it should be. The broth in the prawn wonton noodle soup was tasty but I wonder how much MSG did they put in it. The pan fried pork & garlic chives dumplings were also not as crispy as it should be. Lastly, the peking duck roti were quite small in serving for $14.80 (I had way better ones for less than this price elsewhere!)

We sat outside and had a great meal. The food is all freshly prepared and the flavours were great. Good friendly service. The prices were responsible.

Quite expensive for what you get so unlikely to return. Wasn't really a fan of the Wagyu dumplings. The wontons were not bad though the ratio of noodles to wonton was large (a lot of noodles). Tea prawns were also ok but not what you'd expect.

You can’t beat this restaurant for fresh food, friendly service and great choice on the menu. It’s also BYO which is a big plus these days. Bing always looks after us and it’s his friendly manner that keeps us coming back. We generally order two lots of steamed dumplings and a main of salt and pepper fish. We’ve never been disappointed and highly recommend this fabulous restaurant. The upstairs is beautifully presented and great for a function.

Dear Deer Dumpling is a Chinese restaurant that's replaced the dearly missed katsu specialist, Chidori. Clean, bright space and friendly service. The food is geared towards the local palate which is perfectly fine if that's what you're looking for: honey chicken is on the menu (which my dining partner wanted to order) and the piping hot batter was perfectly crispy; kung pao prawns were the mildest I've ever had, the distinctive smoky spiciness of dried chillies completely replaced with sweetness. The wontons in soup was the best dish for me, plump dumplings in simple, plain broth that hit the spot.
