This one dude who looked like Jesus showed and though he was the rizzler but the only people who laughed were the people making fun of how goofy he looked. He also hated peoples feet. This other no life dude said that he hated black people. They diddnt let us have showers we had to sneek out to have one. The tents smell like a toilet after me having dominos pizza. You need 1 pair of shoes and crocks. The guy also sounded like the leader from total drama island. When i was swimming a snake bit my nono square and gave me perminent erectial disfunction and the leader just stood there and laughed at me

Not only is the camp alone bad enough, but our camp leader Nathan was the worst person ever. He did the bare minimum and refused to help if you needed anything. He pretty much dawdled around the whole time and we only got to do 2 activities over the timespan of almost 2 days.Activities were quite average, nothing special. Some were really bad though from what I've heard from other groups including the wombat hole and obstacle course. Someone even pee'd in it and they didn't clean it up.We didn't get to have a proper shower apart from a small rinse in an open shower and the toilets ran out of toilet paper a lot. Some tents were even mouldy and many were somehow damaged. On a good note for Duke of Ed we had a leader named Dan who was amazing at his job and was a great instructor, so credits to him. The water was also fairly good considering how crusty the taps look.

I almost hit a huge rock on my head and almost died. Other than cheating death, best experience. The best was abseiling and cannoning.

It was so bad. The instructor was a Karen, no showers and the food was served in tiny portions. Their alternative for a shower was a swim in a diarrhoea coloured lake. Wouldn’t recommend.

Oliver made my trip better but I would rather have my balls removed with a rusty butter knife than go back to camp

My 15yo came back from Silver DOE practice & qualifying camps with leader Jim with memorable experience. He enjoyed the scenery, the marshmallows & cookies with the group around camp fire listening to stories from leaders. He found his leader Jim so chilled, easygoing, fun and had made the camps a positive experience. It was better than he had expected as they were allowed to keep mob to take photos to upload to DOE. There's no mob reception around campsite anyway. Jim also let them have a shower after practised safety drill with capsized canoe before stopping due to rain. There was drinking water supply and toilet or porta loo at each campsite, so didn't need to use hand trowel. The leader nevertheless had a toilet kit ready with a hand trowel for the group so no need to bring one. They also got driven to campsite after activities on occasions,so although they were hiking 22km in the wild on one day, they still had access to civilization within reason. Only the second last day out of the 5d was considered a bit more physically strenuous but my 15yo son found the overall experience much easier than anticipated. When I picked him up, he said he didn't even notice the 14kg on his back. He had brought all his own camping gears which really helped as he heard another camper having a water leaking tent when the leader was checking on the integrity of the rental gear in wet weather. The only thing my son wasn't thrilled about was being outnumbered by female , but coming from an all boys school, a ratio of 20+ F to 3M was probably not a bad experience . After all, the two leaders were guys so the 3lads had good male company. Overall as serious and daunting as the silver DOE practice and qualifying camps may appear on paper, Somerset is well set up and Jim was a cool dude as a leader. A worthwhile experience according to my son who registered as an individual to the Open. Just make sure follow recommendations on Somerset website, come prepared preferably with own gear then have a memorableexperience if the leader is chilled like Jim. Jim deserves 5/5. My 15yo son minus 1star for overall experience due to the overwhelming female presence in his group.

Went here for camp and I was so hungry, literally ate dry eggs that had the texture of my grandpas balls, the pancakes were like thbarni, I drank the lake water which was less than appealing, my stomach tore open with several lacerations I bleeding out and they just gave me a small bandage, my friends eye was heavily damaged and it turned red, it look like a heavily assaulted tomato he was hospitalised for 4 days

I recently had the (dis)pleasure of visiting Camp Somerset, expecting a peaceful retreat in nature. Instead, I stumbled upon what can only be described as an audition for the world's worst zombie movie. Picture this: a bunch of homeless guys doing their best undead" impressions. If only they had put as much effort into finding shelter as they did into their terrifying act!Upon arriving

The facilities are standard if not better than average, however what makes Somerset amazing, in my experience during my DoFE bronze camp, is the amazing instructors, especially Jim, who made our group's experience unique and entertaining. This, coupled with the amazing views and sites, provision of equipment and the introduction of nav skills to even those unfamiliar to such makes the camp completely worth it, in my humble opinion.Again, thank you Jim!
