I am the chair of the Executive Committee for a complex that has had Independent Strata Management as our strata manager for over 20 years. During that time we have had a number of Strata Managers but our current one, Shannon Thomas, is one of the best we've had. She is responsive to our needs in a timely manner and always approaches her job and our interactions with professionalism, efficiency and good humour. Shannon is willing to accommodate face to face meetings with us to speedily resolve issues relating to our complex as necessary. Since working with Shannon, I find that most of our problems are solved with relative ease and the mechanisms put in place help us track the progress of the various issues required in the management of our complex. Shannon provides us with sound advice which I am always confident is in our best interests.

Jessica Minichiello is a Team Leader with Independent Strata Management in Canberra and has been directly managing my apartment complex for about a year. In that time she has proven to be professional and knowledgeable ensuring maintenance issues are quickly addressed and contracts with service providers are efficiently managed. In particular I, and the other owners, have appreciated her approachability and responsiveness.

ACT Doorland has a valued relationship with Independent Strata Management.In my personal dealings with this company, I have been very much impressed by the professional assistance of Team Leader and Accounts Manager, Geraldine Jones.Nothing is ever too much trouble for Geraldine. All requests are followed up in a timely manner. Ashamed to admit that we had Independent (now a part of Civium) manage our property for 6 years. The lack of communication from Independent at every level in not fully informing owners of insurance-related rights or requirements for common property issues until the 11th hour could be viewed as almost criminal. I would have put it down to simple incompetent mismanagement, however, the issue was known about by Independent for over FIVE YEARS. Even the dumbest strata manager would have known to take action, or at least inform owners of their rights and responsibilities, but almost nothing was done until the common property insurer issued a deadline to owners. We will never fully know if this was ignorance of biblical proportions, or if something more nefarious was going on. As owners, do your homework on who manages your property. Your strata should be looking after you; that's what you pay them for.

ISM have managed my unit as part of a complex of 16 units. Over the years I must admit their service and communication has been below my expectations to the point of me questioning their effectiveness and future with the complex. Since Jessica Minichiello has taken our complex under her management, service and most importantly, communication has increased significantly. Jessica is a lady of action that gets things done. She is able to liaison with unit owners, tenants and third party suppliers to achieve a win/win for all.. She is able to openly

I have been in my townhouse now for almost 5 years and in that time we have seen a few Strata Managers come and go in that time. Sharon Linney is our current Strata Manager and I can honestly say, the first to actually care about where we live. In the short time she has been in this role she has got more done than the any other Manager that came before her. She is courteous, polite, punctual with her email replies and returning phone calls, and has proved to me that she likes her job and is a professional. She is definitely an asset to the company and to our small complex. Great work Sharon and thank you for being such a beautiful and caring human being. She is the reason I give the company 5 stars.

Update: the plumber clearly articulated that it was not a unit issue, but a building boiler one. They were waiting on receiving instructions from your team last week, and still no progress.Left without hot water for weeks - no time frame of resolve.Never return calls, hang up mid conversation when I manage to get a hold of them. Opt for the cost-cutting process of elimination" (their exact words) solutions at the expense of an uninhabitable unit and stress.The cherry on top of the cake was being told "We're doing all we can." which is acting negligent until an unavoidable crisis occurs. You know there's something wrong when being without hot water for weeks isn't the worst part about their service."

Shannon Thomas of Independent Strata Management is the strata manager for the 44 unit complex of which I am an Executive Committee (EC) member. Being the EC member responsible for day to day administration and governance of the complex I have worked closely with Shannon for the almost 12 months since her management appointment.Shannon has clearly demonstrated that she is reliable, straight forward and trustworthy.
