Enduring Domain Architecture

We had such a great experience with Matt Turner when he designed our home in Newlyn, close to Ballarat. He had so many great ideas, and was easily able to include our plans for our home, and suggest many improvements. From beginning to end, dealing with Matt has been a pleasure. The house was finished at the end of 2016, we moved in immediately, and it has definitely been the home we hoped for. Thanks, Matt, from a warm house in wintery Newlyn!

We engaged Matt to design our home with a specific brief about light, space and warmth. We couldn’t be happier with what Matt achieved for us. We now live in a sunny, light-filled, comfortable home, both easy to live in and beautiful.We are conscious of doing our bit to preserve our planet, and felt Matt aligned with these values in a very practical and affordable way: solar orientation, double glazing and extensive insulation. Our power bills have been cut in half!Thanks Matt for taking the time to understand our family needs, balancing it with best practices in sustainability, and incorporating it all in this wonderful home.

Architect Matt Turner delivers on style and substance in all that he undertakes. His enthusiasm for world’s best practice when it comes to sustainability and design aesthetics is refreshing. With an innate approach that is considered, reflective and dynamic in its delivery, Enduring Domain will surpass all your expectations. We commissioned Matt to come up with a passive solar house concept teamed with the challenge of several substantial obstacles including an odd-shaped boundary perimeter, a steep block, and a heritage overlay. All three of these determinants were fearlessly taken on and the resultant abode that we now call home is sublime and we thank Matt unreservedly for his contribution to our wonderful lifestyle.

The goal for our house redevelopment, utilising the existing structure, was to make it as energy efficient and as airtight as possible using passive house principles and incorporating strawbale construction. We wanted to make the house larger, extend the kitchen and loungeroom and add an ensuite to the master bedroom.We met Matt Turner at a Sustainable Living Expo and started the discussions about how to make our plans work.Matt assisted us with an energy efficient design that achieved our goal and worked well in keeping with the lines of the existing structure of the house. Matt also put us in touch with a builder that had extensive experience with strawbale construction. As a result of our teamwork approach, our entire family home is now extremely comfortable year-round with minimal energy input.

I wanted to build a small, sustainable and thermally efficient house within a tight budget and immediately liked the designs and ethos that Enduring Domain Architecture offered.From the initial consultation to the final drawings and any questions I had in between, Matt understood my brief and delivered a design that was beyond my expectations and I couldn’t be happier.Thanks Matt for your professionalism and creating a design that I now call my home.

We had had a struggle with a draftsperson starting off and subsequently our project was dropped. Matt was recommended to me through a builder mate...from the word go Matt was confident in his work and reassuring. Matt was able to design our home with our ideas/concepts in mind but also able to compliment them or throw to an innovative new idea, keeping our budget in mind. Matt was professional in his engagement with the local council managing the challenges associated with a heritage overlay and I was grateful that we received regular updates from Matt regarding our project. It was a pleasure to work with Matt Turner who designed our new home. Matt’s professional attitude to house design coincided very much with ours, to design houses that are energy efficient, beautiful in form, of a smaller footprint and filled with natural light and comfortable in temperature.And because we wanted to downsize and build a home in which we can live for as long as possible into our old age we think we have succeeded on all above criteria.Internally the house is simple and compact in lay out, but all the rooms are very spacious. Light and space are enhanced by high ceilings, cathedral ceilings in all bedrooms and clerestory windows to the north.Energy efficiency is achieved by double framed outer walls with double regular insulation, use of breathable building wrap, minimisation of air leaks, living spaces facing north with appropriate size windows made with double glazing in Ali-clad high performance frames, appropriate amount of thermal mass in a polished concrete floor in living areas, use of energy efficient electrical appliances throughout.We believe that a good designed home will very much enhance the quality of life of people, contribute to their health, wellbeing and enjoyment of life. We hope our new home will prove us right and are confident the house will stand the test of time, an enduring legacy of Matt’s creativity.
