Kowboy Bar & Grill
Friendly local Filipino restaurant in the heart of Hurstville. They offer balut, grilled inasal skewers, and desserts. The service was accommodating and quick, and the pricing was reasonable. We ordered sisig, grilled chicken, and pinakbet. The food came in generous portions, and they tasted like home-cooked meals. The place could be improved by having better ventilation.

What a great place to experience the Filipino culture. We ordered the bihon with crispy chicken, pinakbet, barbeque, lumpia & of course halo-halo all super tasty - as I’m craving back home it definitely satisfied my tastebuds. Great selection on the menu! Nice decor of the resto. Saturday night was karaoke night awesome energy & service from the staff & the owners. Well done guys see you again soon xx

A Mixed Experience with Great Food but Lackluster ServiceI recently visited Kowboy Bar and Grill and had a mixed experience. While the food was enjoyable overall, the service left much to be desired. The food itself was a highlight. We tried the pork and intestine skewers, and although one of the intestine skewers was burnt, however, the flavors were still enjoyable for the others. The lechon kawali with java rice and the chicken inasal with java rice were the main dishes we ordered. The grilled chicken had an intense charcoal taste that was simply amazing, and the java rice was a delightful discovery. I highly recommend trying it. The pork was well seasoned and paired perfectly with the sauce provided, accompanied by the flavorful java rice.Unfortunately, the restaurant's customer service was lacking. Upon entering the restaurant during a busy dinner time on a Saturday, there was no one to greet or guide us to a table. We had to ask and were directed to order at the counter. The restaurant is more reminiscent of a food court, where customers can choose their own table before ordering at the front desk and receiving a number.Furthermore, there were several issues with the service during our visit. The skewers passed by us multiple times before the waiter finally approached our number to confirm if we had ordered them. The chicken arrived promptly, but the pork took approximately >30 minutes after the chicken. The staff seemed confused and kept delivering food to the wrong tables, constantly inquiring if the numbers were still waiting for their orders. We had to remind them twice about our missing pork, and when it finally arrived, they had forgotten to include the java rice, which was provided upon request.Another letdown was the lack of forks. The restaurant had run out and only had spoons and knives available, which made it a bit challenging to eat meat with a spoon. It would be beneficial for them to ensure an adequate supply of cutlery, especially during busy periods. Additionally, some of the cutlery and cups were not cleaned properly, with traces of oil or food particles still present, which was off-putting.Overall, it seems like Kowboy is still in its early stages of establishing a sit-down restaurant. Improvements in organisation and service are necessary. I would like to suggest a few areas for improvement:1. Table labeling: Instead of providing numbers, consider labeling the tables. This is a common practice in most restaurants and provides convenience for customers.2. Dedicated greeter: Assigning someone to greet and guide customers as they enter the restaurant would greatly enhance the overall experience.3. Sufficient cutlery: Ensure an ample supply of cutlery, especially during peak hours, to avoid inconvenience for guests.I believe with these improvements, Kowboy has the potential to become a standout dining destination. I would be willing to give it a second chance due to the delicious food, hoping that the service issues are addressed.

Was excited to try out the food here as I work near. Ordered sisig, pinakbet, filo style chicken and ube halaya. Overall, we enjoyed the pinakbet as the rest was a bit bland for our liking. Benefit of the doubt is that the food maybe *bland* to cater nationalities living around the area. Will try again next time. We loved the Ube Halaya so yummy!

Visited here with a Filipino friend that did the ordering. Loved the food and the service. The variety of the food was good and the flavour excellent. Loved the milk fish soup but not sure what to call my favorite as it was all great! I hope your business does well

Visited last night with some friends. Ordered a bunch of Filipino food and they were amazing especially the crispy pata. There's a variety of food in the menu too and when we come back, we will try some more. This place is highly recommended.
