Nice night out. Very good service. Food was nice overall, but towards to average side. The lettuce had the most unpleasant grainy texture which felt like we were eating sand. But the staff promptly removed the dish and we had the plum salad instead which I would reccomend.

quality of food and staff service is very very good for a local pub! honestly love it here - always a bustling, lively environment but also perfect for a more intimate dinner/drinks! drinks are so tasty and on the lower side of price compared to alot of places that have cocktails $25++. as for the food, everything is always so tasty! obviously this isnt a fine dining restaurant, but nothing is short of delicious, and generous too! would love to try the njuda croquettes which have been sold out twice on previous visits - they must be tasty! empanadas are so tasty, and properly cooked. whitebait special were so plump, and oysters great quality too. theres something for everyone, all diets. there are vegan, veg, chicken/lamb/beef/fish mains, everything! an extensive list of appetisers too. you'll have fun at true south! thankyou!

Great location for a beer outside when it's a nice day. I've taken off a star because the service is a little cold at times and the prices are a bit high when compared with the portion size. Main meals are all over $20 but are not big enough to satisfy a person as a main meal. Broccolini was innovative but super sweet, a bit unexpected. Rice and beans salad was yummy. Calamari was a bit soggy. We'll be back but probably only for a beer.

An unexpected Argentinean restaurant, found in Black Rock. We sat inside and on a mid-week night, it was not noisy. Food was delicious and plentiful. Service was attentive, friendly and quick. Highly recommended.

The crab sliders from the starters was the best out of the lot we ordered. We tried 5 items of which 3 were from the specials. In a nutshell, nothing stuck out as exceptional apart from the sliders. Maybe next time we’ll stick to ordering from the standard menu which looked more authentic than the fish & chips and chicken wings that didn’t feel any special to most places. Apart from food, the tap beer selection was very good and the ambiance is also quite nice. But I am not sure if I’d visit again, unless I happen to be in the area, especially considering the price point they’re selling things for.

I recently dined at True South in Black Rock, Victoria and I was blown away by the amazing food and atmosphere. To start, the scallop ceviche was fresh and had a great balance of tangy and sweet flavors. The empanada de cordero was also flavourful, but was lacking in texture. For the main and sides, the Bistec de Solomillo, the porterhouse steak, was cooked perfectly medium rare and the chimichurri sauce complimented the meat wonderfully. The Papas Bravas, fried potatoes, were flavourful and the pesto sauce was an amazing addition. The Brocoli Crujient, crispy fried broccolini, was a little sweet for my liking but overall good. For dessert, we had the Churros with vanilla ice cream, and it was one of the better churros I've had in Melbourne. It was hot, chewy, and the perfect finish to an amazing meal.Overall, I would give True South a 5/5 rating for its delicious food, great atmosphere, and friendly service. I highly recommend this Argentinian restaurant for anyone looking for a unique dining experience in Black Rock.

Two of us came to True South in Black Rock on a Monday evening for dinner. We were treated to an absolutely stunning sunset as we dined outside under the warm summer sun. The food was very delicious and served promptly - we ordered the kingfish tacos and the chipotle barbecued chicken. Where they fell short and the reason for 3/5 stars was what they lacked in customer service. Firstly, when we arrived it wasn’t until a few minutes that we were approached and told to find a table outside ourselves. We found the table and sat down but were not given the basic water jug and glasses. When I approached a waiter and asked, he gave us glasses but no water. When ordering, it took a few minutes for them to even bat an eyelid at us, as they were preoccupied making drinks behind the bar than serving customers ordering food. Then we sat down, had our food, and the dirty dishes stayed on the table for over an hour before any waiter took our plates. I felt that we were somewhat abandoned and the whole experience felt like self-service to us. I did notice, however, two others dining in front of us were receiving lots of attention and table service from their waiter, so it felt unequally distributed and I’m not sure why this was the case. Nevertheless, we enjoyed the location, the overall atmosphere of the restaurant and the food. Thank you True South!
