Gordon Eye Surgery

Go elsewhere. My GP had examined me and wrote what she found, but they spent a long time getting me to read charts etc, which was irrelevant to my issue and then 5 mins to see the actual doctor who asked me questions and then didn't believe my answers and then became very hostile. The public hospital system would have been better and a LOT cheaper.

Very average customer service. Be prepared that their administration and operation is poorly run. Long wait in reception! Their receptionists are happy for patients to wait while they are doing their own paperwork. Then you found out later that they made technical errors when handling your medicare.Went there for my child, I will say OPSM provides a much better thorough check than them, also gives more options re myopia control. Only go to Gordon as OPSM doesn't have the machine to measure the length of eyeballs.

I saw Dr Dominic McCall on a Friday afternoon as an emergency appointment. He was very kind, knowledgeable and reassuring in a very daunting situation. All the staff were lovely and extremely helpful and they run a very smooth and efficient practice. I highly recommend Dr McCall and Gordon Eye Surgery.

Completely agree with the reviews. Drs are good, but the overall management / running of this place is atrocious. Impossible communication and expect to wait ~2 hours post your appointment time EVERY TIME you come here. You expect lateness, but it’s an absolute joke.

The specialist I go to is very good. Unfortunately the practice is poorly managed. Pre-op: Multiple messages left for the specialist were not responded to. Even my referring doctor failed to get a response.Post op: suffering from extreme discomfort. Called the practice for advice and the staff was very dismissive. Told to go to ED at eye hospital as all the doctors were busy. 5 hour wait at ED but at least I was seen and treated.

Needed an urgent consult. Possible adverse reaction to immunotherapy drugs. Explained my circumstances via email and in person. Front desk zero care, whatever attitude. Will put your request in consultants pigeon hole and they will get back to you. Same day found a specialist at Strathfield Retina who squeezed an appointment 15th August. I know everyone is a priority and teams are short staffed. I am travelling to Strathfield and it potentially gets me back on my life saving immunotherapy that much quicker. A week latter Gordon Eye called me and offered me an early appointment my Neurologist suggested I cancel Strathfield Retina. I refused as Strathfield Retina listened to me and went above and beyond to fit me in.

My husband, Jim, has been attending the Gordon Eye Surgery for the past ten years and has nothing but praise for the doctors and staff of the practice. He has always been looked after in a most professional manner.

I had an appointment today at 11 am with Sara Booth Mason. I turned up at the surgery without the referral from my GP (yes, my fault). The woman at the counter said that without the referral, Sara could not see me. My GP's surgery said they could fax a copy immediately after lunch and advised her that this was a routine review. I said that I would provide the referral immediately after my appointment, if after lunch was not acceptable. The woman simply said you will have to book another time"It appears that the reception staff have no idea about serving customers and behave as though they are a law unto themselves. Very disappointing! Will never visit Sara Booth Mason ever again! Sara is a Ophthalmologist with a successful track record but her support staff let her down."

Apart from the price, I was very impressed with this surgery today. Jules who greeted me on reception deserves 10/10 for her friendliness and professionalism. Both on arrival and when leaving, Jules was managing a busy volume of patients coming and going without getting flustered, and in a very friendly and thorough manner. The surgery itself was very clean, spacious and comfortable with various waiting area’s that provided ample social distancing; also with entertainment such as TV/fish tank etc. I didn’t have to wait long to see the clinician who was also very nice, professional and friendly as was Dr Jenny Danks who treated my condition on the spot which surprised me, as I expected to just be looked at and then dragged back again. The price I found high but I don’t have other eye specialist experience to compare it to apart from other unrelated specialists I’ve seen recently for other things and all their prices seem high.

I had the best experience today visiting the Gordon Eye Surgery practice.I must admit I was a little nervous however, I was quickly put at ease when I had my diagnostic testing by the friendly Orthoptists. All my questions were answered with such empathy and patience. This certainly was a great opening to meeting Dr Chua who also was so friendly and approachable.
