Canterbury Roof Tiles

I would not recommend Canterbury Roof Tiles as a suitable company to re-roof a home and I will never use them again.In my opinion they are not really a roofing company, but more of a landscape garden supplies company that also sells roof tiles. When they get a contract to roof a home they employ a sub-contracting ‘gang’ to do the work for them and from what I observed they did little supervision. In my opinion this is the worst possible way to run a roofing company.Sub-contractors are often paid little for their work, care nothing for the customer because they don't work for him and just want to get the job over and done with as speedily as possible.Ideally when you get your home re-roofed you want to employ a roofing company that employs its own highly trained professional workers who take pride in their workmanship.My home is a 2.5 million dollar single storey property with a large and complex roof taking approximately 7,000 roof tiles. I wanted a quality job and in my opinion that is not what I got. I spent $57,000.00 replacing my old leaking roof with a new one but all I got was a new roof that leaked in a different place!I have lots of horror stories to tell you, but I won’t go into detail because good reviews are supposed to be brief I will mention only three, to give you an idea of what I went through.1. I complained to the foreman about the need to put a sag in the lagging, as detailed in the manufacturer’s installation instructions and the relevant Australian Building Standard, and during the row that followed he threatened to walk off the job and leave my roof open to the weather, with heavy rain and one hundred kilometre winds forecast for that evening!2. When the job was finally finished and they handed over my new roof and left for the day I was showing the roof to my neighbour and telling him how unhappy I was with the result when I noticed a hole in my roof high up at the rear of my home. A tile was completely missing! Rain was expected within hours. I phoned Canterbury but they had closed and I could not get an answer on their mobile numbers. I am sixty five years of age with a serious heart condition and my neighbour was in worse shape than me. I had to get a ladder and climb up on my roof with a spare tile to fill the hole. The roof was flat and slippery with a sheen on the tile paint. I repeatedly slipped down the roof as I tried to reach the hole. When finally I managed to reach the hole the only way that I could stay there was by holding onto the hole. It took me ages to manoeuvre the tile into the hole and when I did I had nothing to hold onto so I slipped down the roof to be caught by my neighbour who was standing on the ladder. He got me onto the ladder and down to the ground where my heart was in tachycardia and I had to lie flat on the ground for ten minutes to slow my heart rate.3. The first time it rained on my new roof the ridge and hip ridge tiles let in water that flowed out again through the bedding and left long white stains on my black roof. View the picture at the conclusion of this review to see the stains on my new roof after the first rain to fall on it.One of the owners at Canterbury Roofing told me Your expectations are too high." If you own a multimillion dollar property and a tradesman ever tells you that "your expectations are too high" you should evict them from your property as fast as possible."

We recently had our house re tiled by Canterbury roof tiles who did an excellent job. The entire team were first class and very professional. They were efficient, tidy and more importantly ensured we were happy with the result. I recently rang them for advice on another building matter and they went out of their way to help me - I have nothing but good things to say about this company and would recommend them to anyone.

Had some repairs done to roof, friendly and helpful admin and quote staff, however the tiler who carried out the work was very unprofessional. Work done well, however no care taken with ladders so brand new gutters not so brand new any more. Also backed into my front gate and then tried to cover up then deny it.If I was assured this particular bloke wouldn't be doing the work, I would consider using the business again.

Awesome customer service, very helpful workers helped me find what I needed and helped me load tiles into my car. Highly recommend!

I would highly recommend Canterbury Roof Tiles - very professional, detailed quote, photos and good explanations. Good communication regarding on site visits. Post work I received photos and another explanation of work done. All up, brilliant.
